good used speaker

I would like to know what would be a good speaker in the used market for 500.00-800.00. I currently use Kef Q65.2 and feel that it is time to upgrade. my system is a meridian 502 preamp, marantz sm17-sa, rotel RCD-975 cd player wired with straight wire maestro interconnects and kimber speaker cable. Any advise would be very helpful. Thank you

If you ever come across a pair of Fried A/6, buy them on the spot. To my ear, they exceed just about anything in the $2500 and under category these days, and compete with most up to about $5000.
i like the kefs, too, but i'm not blown away by 'em--within your price target i personally prefer used monitor audio rs6, meadowlark or focal/jmlab for floorstanders and von schweikert vr1 as a a great full-range monitor.
You hit the nail on the head so to speak. I am or have not been blown away by any one aspect of them (Q65's). I have been reseraching Klipsch RB-75's, Vienna acoustics Hayden grands, monitor audio various modles. I would like a smallish floor standing model or a larger bookshelf speaker. Thank all of you for your input up to this point.

In that case, you need to get out and listen to speakers to find the kinds that are most engaging. We can't answer that for you. You might find you love Totems or Magnepans, or Vienna or Thiel. Once you get a handle on the type of presentation you like, then we can suggest speakers with a similar sonic signature that fit your budget.

I'm guessing Totems--something with more speed and exciting transients while retaining subtlety and inner clarity.
Thank you for the input. I have not gotten out to see what Missouri has to offer in the audio market place. I am not in a good location to audition the items I would like to listen to. I do like the Klipsch RB-75's, I do like vienna acoustic's sound as well. What i do not like about the Kef Q65's is that I have always noticed a disconnect in the mid to lower frequency range. like the speaker is missing a small part of the information in the transition from mid to low frequency. If that makes any sense. I have had the KEF's for 7 years and paired them with lots of various amps and preamps and cables, only to find the same region missing. I have moved several times as I am in the military and used many different rooms. Same behavior. So that is what has encourged me to look for a change the most. I would like more energy and better, detail, perhaps better timing. I would also like to have a better image front to back space around the musician. Thank you all again for your inputs.
