Which HDMI cable for I2S?

I'm currently using an inexpensive 12 inch long Monoprice cable to connect my dac to a Gustard U18 interface. Honestly, it sounds quite good.

I don't want to buy a pricey cable, but maybe something by DH Labs, etc.

There are some deals on older cables that meet HDMI 1.3, 1.4, or 2.0 standards. I know these standards are for video. Would all of them work for I2S digital audio? Would the higher standard HDMI 2.1 be better?

Interesting. Thanks for sharing the results of your experiment.

I'm still waiting on the DH Labs cable to arrive.

I think my system is revealing enough, but it won't surprise me if I don't hear a difference.  I'm not one to like something just to validate my purchase. I've got a box full of cables that I purchased and didn't like.

@soix Are you still using the Monoprice cable?

I see that Wyred 4 Sound has their 0.5M cable on sale for $99.  I figure it's cheap enough to give it a try.

How is the Wyred 4 Sound cable? I was looking at that as well. Also the µLINK-2 DDC.

@sdc2 The Wyred 4 Sound works well.  I'm happy with the sound that I'm getting. I didn't do any a/b comparisons with the DH Labs but I liked the sound quality and I'm using it. I can usually tell immediately if I try a different cable and I don't like it.  And that was four months ago and don't exactly recall. I've done some messing with interconnects since then.

I haven't been tempted to try an expensive I2s cable, so I can't say if they would be better.
