Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Thanks Jafant and Tom.
the tweeter is coaxial with mid and has protective cover so I believe it plays music and i confirmed it with playing test tones and measures using my old but trusted radioshack sound level meter.  I can get measurement for 5khz upward.  What is interesting that I found out and need further investigation was there was a dip of about 10khz of about 3db compared to 1khz.  12khz was less dip.  This was measured both at listening position as well as abt 3ft away from the speaker. Not sure if this was due to room acoustics partly.  Hope to also see the schematic to see if there is any electrolitic caps that might need replacement.  Thank you

mchan888,

Congrats on obtaining a pair of CS 7.2 speakers. '

I'm right there with Tom that something is going on as the CS 7.2 has ample extension in the higher frequencies.

Placement will be slightly different than your CS 3.6.

This was a big factor with my CS 7.2 was ear placement to appropriate driver. It will be different than your 3.6.

Another area to go over is amps and electronics. I have a few pairs of Thiels and everyone has a different amp I prefer. You dial them in with the right room (Thiels are very unforgiving with bad set uo/room) andyouwillbe grinning ear to ear. They are that good.

Thanks for highlighting. I will experiment with position and including toe in. Currently it is 8ft apart with 3ft from each side wall. I tried both with my solid state Krell and ARC tubes and both have similar dip in its highs.

The amp reference was not intended to address the dip in highs. It was to merely to poin=t out you can extract more from the big Thiels with the right amps. Big clean Class A for sure.

In my setup I have them about 10' apart,  3' from back wall and 4.5' from side walls.

Maybe a cap/resister fail if driver is working.
