Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Excellent! Yes, I do remember your purchasing those Classe' products. I can recall a hobbiest that offered Classe' upgrades years ago in the various Audio forums. Good to read that Bill offers critical upgrades as well. I know that you are excited to see his work in action. I can hardly await to read about the impressions and thoughts. Do Bill have a sound room at his Operation? Interested in the gear he uses to test all Electronics.

Thank You for the follow up on Tom's theme. Good to read that Darren and Duncan are getting it done in 2022. P.S. Audio and TMR are very strong Operations.

Right On! "Practioner" is the Key word. No doubt, that there is a real art in being a Hobbiest. Add the D.I.Y. aspect to it all and Audiophiles are handsomely rewarded.

I say again, the 2000's was a magical decade. Several top-tier practioners were at play. I mean, at work to make OEM cd and SACD players so much better on playback. Competition is a strong motivator. I was not financially secure back then, so I missed out on much of this Gear. Thankfully, with the help of the demo/used marketplace, I am making up for lost time. Physical media is not going away anytime soon. Millions of shiny, silver, discs are plentiful. And I am a player all of the way. as my Collection grows every year.

Agreed, companies were created for designers to practice their passion. Bill Thalmann and Dan Wright are key examples. Amazing that these guys and a few others are/were out to build a better "mouse trap"  And they did!

The next wave or a Revival is hopefully on the way in 2022.

Nice catch! I hope those 1.5 speakers find the next good home.

Welcome! Nice score on the CS 1.5 speakers. Reviewing the specs on TX-NR555, this is a decent Receiver. Onkyo tends to rate the power output on the conservative side. Should be fine at low to medium volume levels. Yes, the Mac gear will improve your aural experience by providing more current to the loudspeakers.

Keep me posted as you refurbish the MC2200 and C28. I look forward in reading more about your Musical taste and system.

Welcome! Good to see you here. Nice score on the CS.5 speakers. Stay tuned until one of the Panel members chimes in on your query. I look forward in reading more about Musical tastes and system.

Thank You for posting your likeness on the 1.5 speaker. I knew that the Panel had at least 1 fan and owner.

I believe that the Panel has a 1.6 , 1.7,  fans and owners as well.

I perused that 7.2 ad over on USADM. I have never read about a 7.1 speaker being upgraded to 7.2 status? Can you expound the details? Good to read that these loudspeakers found the next good home.

Classe' is a sonic match for Thiel Audio speakers. I did not know that Classe' made an Integrated amp? Very cool.

A CS 2.5 ? Yes! Tons of potential goodness there. I would be the 1st buyer in-line.

2nd Note- my space cannot accommodate a CS 3.7 nor 7.3 loudspeaker to due proper justice.

Agreed- Dreams do come into fruition.  I am excited about your working Stable of loudspeakers. Our future looks very bright indeed. Keep up the R&D !!!

Good to see you here again. Did you sell those CS 2.7 speakers?

That is a nice collection. Thank You for the update. Yes, White finish is quite rare.

Which Thiel Audio loudspeakers are you holding currently?

Yes, a beast like the 7.2 model requires a great space to perform correctly.

Thank You for the follow up. Good to read that you had a Positive experience with Rob at CSS. I concur with Tom. The CS 2.3 and CS 2.4 are not similar in Driver(s).

i can attest to the CS 2.4 model. This loudspeaker will give you the same attributes as the 1.6 plus Bass extension desired without a subwoofer. The CS 2.4 provides the listener accurate, taut, Bass via the Passive Radiator. You can enjoy every genre of Music. It is a Honey of a speaker. Easy to drive as well.

What other gear is in your system?

I cannot comment on the CS6. Stay tuned until one of the Panel experts chimes in to address your query.

Thank you for weighing in as well. No doubt that you know the Thiel brand owning so many Models. I value your impressions and thoughts likewise.

Good to have you and Phil’s expertise on the Panel.

Thank you for your impressions and thoughts on CS6 vs. CS2.4 loudspeakers.

You we’re very fortunate to have worked for an Audio Dealer/Retailer.  Keep the stories coming.

In my auditions and travels, I found the CS 1.6 more in line with the 2.4 loudspeaker.

I found the CS 1.7 more in line with the 2.7 and 3.7 models.

Good to see you here my fellow AYRE fan and owner. Yes! to my ears, from models 3A down, Vandy and Thiel are very close in presentation and sound.

(I have not spent time with model 5A. Nor did I like the Treo but did enjoy the Kento)

Thiel loudspeakers have a remarkable treble section. This factor is easily confused as being "bright or"hot" on the top end. Careful cable and gear selection is a must.

Good to see you again. The V-Cap upgrade is a must. It will transform your gear to the next level.

Welcome! Are you selling the 3.6 in order to move up to a newer Thiel model?

I look forward in reading more about your Musical tastes and System.

Good to see you here again. Speaker 3.5 is very popular here and a Panel favorite.

You will find a plethora of information from fans and owners alike. This particular loudspeaker is quintessential Jim Thiel as above.

What other gear is in your System?

Thank You for the CS3 and CS 3.5 comparison. Good to read that upgrade package(s) will be avail bundled.

I hope that you re well this Holiday Season!

Welcome! Good to see you here. Stay tuned until one of the Panel members chimes in to address your query. Speaker CS 2.4 is a modern classic with many fans and owners here. This was my 1st Thiel "experience" An experience that I will never forget!  I could easily live with this Loudspeaker, if I had not heard the CS 2.4SE.

What gear and cabling rounds out your System?

Always good to see you here. Thank You for the System update. Yes! too many tubed gear is too much of a good thing. The Musical Fidelity A35 is a fine player.

I believe that you are the only Panel member whom endorses Belles amplifier.

Do you miss B.A.T. integrated amp?

Thank You for initial impressions and thoughts on the CS 2.4 loudspeaker. Nice score at $1K. Mr. Rob Gillum will have those speakers singing again in full range soon.

Besides the 3.5 speaker, the CS 2.4 is (very) well annotated here in this thread.

Well documented as well. Take the time to read through and you will be rewarded.

B.A.T. is a good match, must be set up properly. CODA (Pass Labs) is a sonic match too. Your Ears do not deceive. The CS 2.4 is a special loudspeaker. I can still remember my 1st demo.

Do you live in the Chattanooga area? Very cool that you found the culprit (white lead disconnected).

That is quite a list of Power amps tested against your speakers. All solid performers. 2nd- Conrad Johnson.  We have quite a few DIY'ers here that upgraded the XO for model CS 2.4. Take your time to read through the material. Feel free to contact these guys for further inquiry. Have fun massaging those 2.4 speakers into your room and system.

Thank You. I work in Nashville. Perhaps we can meet-and-greet soon. Pretty cool to have an Audio shop locally.  I hope that you are enjoying the CS 2.4 upgrade. It is quite a special Loudspeaker, IMO.

Thank You for sharing your Audio journey. There are not too many Audiophiles (out there) enjoying B.A.T. / Thiel combo. You were the 1st here. B.A.T. has a strong Research and Development (R&D) department. The company is quite a machine in that regard with REX3 series available now. I can remember the original REX.

I grew up on the Mosfet sound. It is quite musically rewarding and wonderful. My AYRE gear touches on this design plus a Tubed flavor.  Give credit to the Diamond Circuit. Pretty amazing in the Twenty Series Integrated Amp and corresponding Separates. Yes, being a frugal and smart shopper can yield an incredible system for pennies on the dollar. I concur in this approach to system building.

Good to read that the Belles is a hit in your room and system.
