Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

I also plan on purchasing a pair of 7.2s in the future but  have to wait until i can afford my dream monoblocks a pair of used Audionet Heisenbergs and a dedicated listening room for all this gear.

@lloydviii  Cardas Clear Reflection is a great choice for Thiel speakers but there are many others like Audience.

I use an AQ Niagara 3000 but only for my sources and LPS, amplification straight into the wall is best with good Furutech wall outlet.

I have thick  curtains in front of my 2 glass doors.

Guys i’ll give you my take on the Gaia II footers onces i receive them, my distributor didn’t have the right threading for my 3.7 this is why i have to wait another 3-4 weeks.

Hi guys, a friend mine asked me if i wanted to demo his monster Pilium Leonidas integrated on my 3.7s.

This is the typical integrated that loves difficult load speakers and can easily drive 2ohms.

Its is also very smooth like Pass Labs so will keep you guys posted when we can do this Pilium demo at my place, should be fun.

Ok guys i’ve been using the Isoacoustics Gaia 2 on my 3.7s for the last week with and without the carpet discs and i have to say i’m pretty disappointed at the moment.

With the carpet discs bass is very lean and tonality seems not right.

Also one thing i don’t like at all about the Gaia 2s is that you don’t hear the tweaks that you put into your system like yor exemple the Vertere Pulse HB Ethernet cable that i purchased lately which completely blew me away prior to the Gaia 2s well now i don’t hear it anymore.

Anyway this is my first take, i’ll have some friends over at my place next week we’ll see what they think.

For the time being i removed the Gaia 2s.

@prof Yes i agree directly on the carpet without the carpet spikes is much better but i still prefer the original Thiel spikes vs the Gaia 2s overall, bass is much better in my case without the Gaia 2s.

A friend of mine told me to try the Gaia 2 on granite before making a final decision.

I will give this a try and if no positive results i will send them back.

@masi61  CS 3.7s weight is about 42kg so no problems with the GAIA 2s.

GAIA 1s are for the bigger CS 7.2s.

I did find the bass way to thin for my taste with the GAIA 2s and therefore removed them.

I don't plan on using any Subs at the moment.

Anyone has tried Mcintosh tube preamp paired with Krell 302 Evo on his Thiels ?

Here's my latest addition to my system.

I replaced 2 Audioquest Firebird high current PCs by 2 Furutech DSP 4.1 PCs.

One of them powers my Vitus amp and the other one my Audioquest Niagara 3000.

The difference in sound is absolutely jaw dropping, you cannot imagine.

As if my Vitus has doubled it's power output, insane!

These cables are very organic and on the warm side, great with my Thiels.

Hi guys, bad news for me, i have one bass driver on my CS 3.7s that suddenly stopped working and the Coax is sizzling.

There is no more sound coming from this bass driver, any idea if it's dead and should i order a new one ?

My 3.7s are about 12 years old.

Thanks for your help.

Next week i’ll investigate with a friend who has some soldering gear.

There is a wire on the crossover board that that went off several months ago.

At the time i used super glue to stick the wire back on the board, it worked for the past 3 months but perhaps today the contact between the wires and the soldering is not good anymore.

We will redo a nice new soldering on the board and see if my problem comes from that.

Keep you guys posted.

Hi guys, I've ordered 2 new Coaxes for my 3.7s from Rob hope to get them by next week.

It's a shame the new ones are black on the outside, hope they are just as good as the original ones ?

@vair68robert The loose wire was on the crossover board, we redid a nice and clean solder under the board and the bass drive now finally works properly.

Unfortunately it didn't fixe my sizzling tweeter problem so i decided to change both Coaxes, Rob told me sizzling usually comes from the tweeter.

When Thiel shut down they were manufacturing the newer black Coax version, they stopped making the original metal ones so Rob only has the black ones in stock if any of you needs some.

I think what i'll do onces both Coaxes are changed, i'll send him the failing one for repair.

Well that’s it guys my 3.7s are like new, we mounted the new black Coaxes.

I feel they do sound much better than the original chrome ones.

The level of clarity is insane with the black ones just as if my 3.7s were upgraded.

Really worth it guys.

@dhoff01  I can put a pic in my virtual system page.

My 3.7s are 12 years old, i don't know if it has to do with the fact that the old Coaxes are worn out but you can definitely hear the black ones sound much better at least in my system.

The black ones cost $525 each, if you are interested reach out to Rob they are very easy to install.

Check my system page i put 2 photos of my new Coaxes.

I can tell you it's really worth the upgrade, my 3.7s have never sounded that good!!

If you 2.7-3.7 owners plan to keep your speakers forever it might be a good idea to get the new black Coaxes at some point, your Thiels will sound just like new.

Same here i never toe in my 3.7s, this is definitely the best results i got but i'm lucky to have plenty of room from the side walls like about 6 feet.

Hi guys, i now have my new Jadis DA88S integrated amp in silver finish driving my CS 3.7s with KT88 tubes.

Jadis class A tube power is spectacular with my Thiel speakers, much better than all SS amps i have tried to date.
