Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Good to see you again. How far are your Thiel speakers from back wall? Side walls? Apart from chair position?

Nice catch! I hope those 2.4 speakers find the next good home.

The Sony ES SCD-1 is also coveted by Audiophiles. Perhaps it is worth the effort to repair? Keep me posted on your decision. Have fun!

Excellent gear! The Philips CD-80 is still coveted by Audiophiles.
Some older, vintage pieces hold up well in 2020 moving forward.
PS Audio has a beta-tester program. Perhaps you could contact Paul for the new PerfectWave SACD player? Did Jim and Paul have any business relationship?  I am looking forward in reading about your next high resolution spinner! Have fun!

Thank You for suggesting Warren Gregoire for SCD-1 repairs.
This is a special spinner since introduction. It is pretty cool to read over the history of this player and all of the Modders that had a vision to improve upon digital playback.

I am looking forward in your comparison of the Sony ES and PS Audio PerfectWave spinners.  Have fun!

thieliste and Tom brings up excellent points- why does one need (2) Players? In Tom's case, the older Philips is still viable now.
The newer PS Audio, will serve well for SACD playback and other modern duties. There is something to be said about these older, reference, Cd players. All do compact disc playback very well.

Thank You for another Thiel Audio history lesson. As above, the Black satin finish looks very nice. A Black matte finish would also look very nice.

I liked the B&W 805 standmount speakers with a Tube amp.

Thiel loudspeakers are pretty forgiving w/ cabling. Use caution with silver-based/impregnated cabling though. Experiment and have fun!

I have heard Arcam gear with Analysis Plus (not sure about the models) and Nordost Blue Heaven cabling only. I really like their FMJ cd players.

Thank You for the follow up to my Fuse query. I concur, the stock fuse is plenty good enough for my ears. Across the other Audio forums, there is not much information about fuse exchanges in AYRE gear.

Right On! No doubt that the Premier 12 is a robust amp considering it can become configured into 2 Ohm output. A strong power supply indeed.
I have the same sentiments about the Premier 350 solid state power amp. Just incredible!

Thank You for sharing the review. I can remember reading that review in 1999. Those were the days for Audio Press. Do you have your amps set to 8,4, or 2 Ohm taps?

I have always wanted to demo VTL. I hope the amp(s) hold up well because VTL costumer service is not highly rated in the Audiophile community. Hope that you are well this holiday season.

I have only heard the 3BST with an ARC Ref5 SE pre-amp. This is a magical combination indeed.

I just watched the latest HiFi Chats #27 via YouTube.
The guest is B%W. There is pretty good conversation on Loudspeaker building and Cross-over design. I thought its content may be of interest.
We have several DIY members on the Panel.

My pleasure. I owned the pre-diamond tweeter B&W 805. A very good monitor. The advent of the Diamond tweeter really advanced this loudspeaker brand. All models can be matched with solid state or tubed gear.

A Very cool selection(s) of Thiel loudspeakers and the various gear driving those systems!
I must say that if I owned a large enough home, I would have a second system featuring a different pair of Thiel speakers for comparison.
