Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Any brand that does not source to china is my focus. Swisscable, is my first audition sometime in December. I am open to other European or Japanese competitors.

Right On!  These other so-called U.S. Cable companies could take a lesson or two from Ted.

I wanted to give a special shout-out for an Audiophile that has not yet joined us. He can be found over on Audio Asylum- Mr. Abe Collins. This Thiel owner (CS 2.4 for many, many, years and counting), is directly responsible for sparking my initial interest into the brand. For years, I read over his posts and systems both tubed/solid-state with eyes wide open. He can advise on tube-rolling as well. Although I would not have my personal moment w/ the CS 2.4 in early 2012, I had a strong sense of the loudspeaker's personality.Indeed, on that fateful day in Baltimore, MD., the CS 2.4 presented itself as advertised! I would continue to follow this particular model until I found the CS 2.4SE. My search ended that day in Raleigh, NC.2nd Note:Earlier this week I procured a cherry Accuphase DP-65v from Mr. Abe Collins. I have been chasing his spinner for upwards of 10 years now. This player is a BEAST and weighs in around 50 lbs. Japanese disc-spinning goodness at its finest. Pics to follow as soon as possible due to work schedule.

Thank You for the Cabling pitch. Audioquest (AQ) is a sonic match for Thiel speakers. I have read that Blue jean and Mogami work as well.

Too many cables, so little time. Have fun experimenting!

Take your time dialing- in and massaging these loudspeakers into the space. Read back over this thread for Hot tips regarding CS 3.7 models.I spent considerable time with this incredible speaker. Appropriate room size is critical. Experiment and keep us posted on your progress.Van Halen - s/t is an excellent disc for testing any system. Have Fun!

Welcome! nice score on the CS 3.7 loudspeaker. Take your time auditioning gear for this model. Much will depend on the size of your room/space. Read over this thread as we have quite a few 3.7 members of the Panel. Have fun!

Good to see you here today. Agreed- ARC is an excellent choice of components for our beloved Thiel speakers. Aesthetix and Conrad-Johnson are fellow tubed-gear for consideration.

Thank You for the review link. I have no doubt that this integrated can drive a CS 2.4 / 2.4SE loudspeaker without challenge. A 650w burst tone is quite powerful, usually into 1 channel (Stereophile). Paul Miller does a good job testing gear in his lab.

2nd- Santana 'Caravanserai' is an excellent SACD for testing one's system. There are 2 different releases on this title. I believe that I own the 1st pressing. MoFi is the re-issue.

I hope your CS6 speakers find the next good home.
Are you planning on purchasing a newer Thiel loudspeaker?

Happy Listening!
yyzsantabarbara

I have found that the best approach to a Thiel loudspeaker, allow your ears to guide you. Specs are helpful to a degree. Specs are not the only aural factor up for consideration, IMO. I believe that we can all agree on an amp that doubles down in power rating from 8 to 4 ohms. The rest is a matter of taste. 2020 has been a banner year for Integrated amp(s).
Until last year, I would have never given the notion, a second thought.
My AYRE integrated is a killer and musical as separates for more money.
