Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Thank You for providing us with another Thiel history marker. The hard work developing a driver that covers all 7 Octaves certainly paid off well. Another brilliant design by Jim and company. Hope you are well this day and gaining ground on the XO project.

This information crossed my radar earlier today. ARC will be offering a SE upgrade for their CD6 and CD9 cd players starting now. A CD6SE offered at $10K and CD9SE at $15K respectively. For that kind of price increase it would have been good of Audio Research to include SACD playback. The CD9 has been my long-standing reference cd spinner during auditions.  A very fine player with a killer DAC for computer -based Audio applications.  Happy Listening!

Thank You for addressing the query from stspur. I wanted to give you guys an update on this beautiful Spring day here in the deep South. I took stock of the AYRE DX-5 universal player. This is a cherry of a spinner that made its way from Colorado back to me with a new drive/transport laser assembly. Said player is now glitch-free, providing superb, CD/SACD playback. (2) shout outs are in order. First- to the guys at Hifi Buys Atlanta. Second- to Mr. Gary Mulder head of customer service at Ayre Acoustics Boulder. Presentation and sound mated with the Twenty Series electronics are damn fine.  I will post a pic in a few days via Virtual Systems.  Happy Listening!

Nice score on the CS 2.4 loudspeaker in beautiful Cherry finish. You have an excellent pair of ears my Audiophile friend, as your precise description of the presentation and sound of the 2.4, is accurate.
As evidenced by my earlier posts upon starting this thread back in 2016, the hidden musical value of CS 2.4, can be conveyed with a modest integrated amp (Creek in my evaluation) all of the way up to monster separate power amps (Class A, Class A/B, Class D).  The choice is up to the owner.

Thank You Ron and Tom for shedding a little light on this subject. I suspect many of us here have viewed that ad on eBay and questioned its effect against our loudspeakers. Hope you guys are well today and enjoying the music.

To your knowledge, does Rob employ an assistant or under-study?It would be very cool if he is teaching his expertise/trade to a future Thiel generation. If I lived closer to Lexington, KY., I would certainly take interest.Hope you are well and having fun in the hot rod garage.

Absolutely!  Lately, the thread has been flabbergasted by all of this cross-over (XO) and driver reinstatement/replacement talk (of course this is perfectly fine and fitting). I wanted to circle back around to anyone here changed or swapped out any Gear? Any Cabling shoot-out(s) going on among you guys?

Thank You for the CS 3.7 XO network analysis. We have several owners of that model here that may want an upgrade once a working prototype is established.  Hope your Spring in Utah is going well.

I want to re-visit the Cardas Clear offerings as well. It has been 5 years since my last Cardas demo. I am sure that geometries of this design have been improved over time.  Newer models as well.

Good to see you here again. Thank You for the update and implementation of REL subwoofer(s) matched to your CS 3.7 loudspeakers.  What other gear including cabling rounds out the system?

Thank You for posting your impressions/thoughts of the Cardas Clear Cygnus. I looked over the current offerings and thought about how the underlying silver cabling is going to sound (transparently) on Thiel loudspeakers?  I, too, enjoy cabling that brings out shimmer on cymbals.
Brushes on drum heads via Jazz recordings appeals to my aural experience as well. I want it so real that I could touch the skins myself.

Keep auditioning and reporting your findings here.

Double check me on the Cardas Clear series- I believe that I read Rhodium over Silver strands, especially, Clear Beyond. It makes sense at the price-point.

Thank You for the over-sight on Cardas cabling. You are running an interesting bi-wire configuration on the SE loudspeaker. How many hours are logged on the upgraded XO now?

Thank You for double-checking my interpretation of Cardas cabling.

perfect descriptors of your break/burn - in processes. 200 hours would be the bare minimum for capacitors. Outstanding work!

Enjoy a fun and safe trip picking up those CS 3.7 loudspeakers.
Take the Cable audition while you are on scene.  Happy Listening!

Good to see you here again. Thank You for reporting back impressions and thoughts regarding mating Class D electronics on Thiel loudspeakers. I am uncertain of a cable brand to voice with Bel Canto? Perhaps a consultation with this company is in order? I will peruse over the other Audio forums to obtain possible contenders. Tara Labs, Kimber Kable, Acoustic Zen, Audioquest and Transparent,  are certainly top-tier cabling without question. Keep auditioning and posting the findings here.

Happy Listening!
