I will have to say. Even with the largely imperfect set up mine is. It does do some trippy stuff. Stuff will sound like it’s coming from behind or right to the side of me. Etc etc. |

So I got my classe amps. One is a dr-25 and one is a regular 25. However I recently found out that the house is not truly ground. Which makes these 3 prong outlets ground useless. Is this safe to use these amps on such things? |
Unfortunately I don’t own the place I just rent half of the house. So it isn’t my right to fix it all. I’m also on the top floor so I’m not sure how that would work trying to fix the wiring |
So the sound of the 3.6 on the classe vs the adcom is so much better. Detailed and airy highs, bass is subterranean, and midrange is soooo much smoother. It no longer sounds harsh and congested. In comparison to the adcom. |

to get the midrange out of kind of a hassle. Iirc there was sort of a putty gasket along with the fact that the midrange cutout is fit pretty tight. I removed all screws, then used a needle nose pliers to nudge it out. Putting the new midrange in will be a struggle cause the plate is exactly the size so it’ll have to be shaved down very slightly. Like nanometer slightly |
As far as power I would ideally go 250 minimum at 4 ohms. |
I’m curious. How was the levinson blah since I was not able to get one. My model 25 classe has so been extremely nice to listen to I feel like it takes a little edge off but not too much. Just gives it the right amount of naturalness and timbre. The adcom would get stressed at louder volumes vs the classe which handles it with ease and extremely clean dynamics. |
I’m gonna be selling my thiel cs 3.5’s: anyone close to or within Wisconsin wants a pair. Not sure what a fair price would be but I know I’ve spent at least 800 on parts making these sing again. Very good condition. |

Well guys I am selling my 3.6 and classe. I found I was getting the same bass at a better listening level on the pcs vs the louder level needed to achieve this with my 3.6. Along with a soundstage and clarity that’s just as good. Midrange is slightly lacking but I think the trade off is worth it. Until a 3.7 or 7.2 pops up or thiel makes loudspeakers again; I’ll be sticking with my pcs.

I’m definitely hearing a deeper response acoustic sound. The thiel 3.6 just sound like midbass at its best. The guy I got them off of said they were 3k a pair. Which is still substantial for a bookshelf. Definitely has a wider soundstage and more detail.

I will try the classe on my pcs tomorrow to see if I have the same wall pounding bass from those things. Any more bass and I’m bound to get complaints. There’s no way this doesn’t disturb the downstairs neighbor.

I have no other amp and all behavior looks normal. Condition of the drivers are magnificent with not even a slight scratch.

No. These 3.6’s have been sealed since their conception in shipping out from the thiel shop according to the owner. I have no reason to not believe him because there is no marks.

Or just in general the power to dish it out I guess? All I know is my pcs have no where near the bass they had after I connected them to the classe.

I mean it didn’t improve. I can’t use the lux as a pre amp because the classe doesn’t like it. I’m getting far more dynamics using my arcam irdac 2

Those with 3.6 speakers what size room do you guys have them in. I moved mine from a 25x18 ft room to a 14x14 foot room and their bass response is far better note that I have vaulted room ceiling that are 16 feet tall.

Thank you although I cannot properly set them up in the bedroom I just wanted them to at least sound much better. I will wait for a pair of cs7 to pop up nearby. I know someone with a pair of cs7 but they’re in at louis and renting trucks is expensive rn.

the 18x25 has a vaulted ceilings going up 16 feet. There is nothing wrong with the speakers. They’re perfectly fine. I’m probably just going to try to get a mark levonson 332 that has had re cap work done to it already.

I was told that the 25 delivers 1000 watts at 2 ohms confirmed by a guy who worked at classe at the time these were made. They just never officially stated it for whatever reason? So maybe the classe needs a little re cap and new thermal pads installed.

The Thiel PCS with proper power are fantastic. Very deep bass and very clean, they were mostly very good at medium range.
