Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

That is quite a collection of speakers- you are certainly a Thiel Man at heart.  Several of the guys here own the CS 2.2 as well as the 3.5 model.
If you have not done so, read this thread from post #1 to the present. There is a plethora of good, solid information in this thread.

Nice! score on the 3.6 loudspeakers.  There are a few owners here that will benefit from your XO project. Across other Audio forums the 3.6 model is quite popular as well.  Hope you are well and enjoying Fall.

I just returned from a quick visit to Manhattan.
Today's adventure was about seeing the Beacon Theater, Blue Note Jazz Club and Village Vanguard.  Funny thing- there were flyers on the venue billboards  dated back to March.  Perhaps I can catch a show next month? The city streets were bustling with pedestrians running/walking.

Absolutely!  There are other owners of the CS 2.4 that uses an Ayre AX-7 to drive without issue.  No doubt that the AX-5 is a very capable integrated amp as well.  Thank You for your input.
As above, we know that the big and heavy hitters (Classe' Krell, Mark Levinson and Pass Labs) can accomplish the job.
I believe that it is safe to report that Ayre and Bryston are worthy contenders to add to our Power Amp list as well. I would not mind seeing a few additional Integrated amp(s) making the grade.

Thank You! for the latest update(s). We all look forward in reading about the preliminary data that you create as you test the XO project. A beta offering like this endeavor takes time to develop. You certainly have the capability, knowledge, skill sets and wisdom, to get this project off of the runway.

I know that Mr. Rob Gillum and others behind the scene are supporting you and beetlemania on this wonderful opportunity. Feel this thing out as you see fit. The panel here is staying tuned.

My 1st audio encounter w/ Vandersteen dates back to 1995. On that date I auditioned the 2ci or 2ce (I never can remember which iteration came first?). Then, there was the 2Ce/Ci Signature models for further improvement. And the 3A Signature for further advancement in presentation and soundstage.

This was my strongest contender loudspeaker to assemble my next system either ss or tubed gear to compliment.
A fateful audition w/ the Thiel CS 2.4 loudspeaker would change my trajectory forever.  The CS 2.4SE provided the icing on a very tasty cake.
Done.

Most likely so as Wes Phillips was very fond of Thiel Audio loudspeakers.
He gave the CS 2.4 a glowing review.  Happy Listening!
Guys,
I can report, having carried both models, the CS 2.4SE is a touch more solid in its cabinet (Canadian Maple) than the stock CS 2.4 loudspeaker.A little less resonate in sound as well. I do not know if the SE has more anti-vibration innards vs. the regular 2.4-

Never lame in any reply!  The 3.5 is still beloved in 2018 and your hard work, labor of love, proves this fact.  I must report that spending all of these years in the Audio forums, (2) models are at the top of the Thiel catalog.

The 3.5 and CS 2.4 loudspeakers. And for excellent reasons- I can certainly vouch for the 2.4, not having heard, the 3.5 model.  I concur about sealed Bass enclosures, when executed the right way, very musically pleasing than any other cabinet design. Natural Bass is the flip-side of this particular coin to me as well. Nothing like it. Keep up the commentary and correspondence here as your time permits. I value your input, always!

Excellent ideas from above. This thread is burning on all 8 cylinders.

Keep up the great exchange of ideas based upon improvements and/or loudspeaker upgrades you guys would like to own. The rest will take care of itself.

Good to see you again. Agreed, Revel is most certainly no Thiel loudspeaker. I like Bryston with the CS 2.4 not having heard a Mark Levinson with any Thiel model.

I am in the process to setting up an audition of the newer Bryston 4B3 power amp and will post here once accomplished.  If you are digging the Bryston sound there is the B-135 integrated. Same for Mark Levinson No. 585 integrated amp.  I have read that either product sounds excellent on Thiel Audio speakers.

Thank You for more wire talk.  Your posts on Thiel Audio reveals Jim's genius in design and execution. We all are grateful for such fine details within the final product that went into the marketplace.

Good to see you today. Agreed, I would be the first to state that wire does make a difference, the finest details must be addressed and covered properly, which you guys accelerated in those early days at Thiel Audio.
No doubt that the term "pioneer" cannot be underestimated here. Add a genius designer and philosophy on first order, time-phase coherence, and the result is one hell of a loudspeaker.  Fascinating.

Thank You for sharing your story circa early 1980's about taking part in a listening group.  Very cool history there.  Happy Listening!

my pleasure to advise you. I plan on auditioning the 4B3 soon after we clear the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  More to follow.

Good to see you. A few years ago and my first of many encounters with the Bryston 4BSST, SST2,  power amp. I heard to drive without any reservation Wilson Audio Sasha and Sophia loudspeakers. At that moment in time, I knew it was special. Thank You for sharing your impressions on its capability driving your CS 2.7 loudspeakers.

Good to see you again. Yes, it has been awhile since I have seen a post by you.  Impressive that you switched away from the Cary SLP-05. That particular pre-amp is one of the very best, very popular amongst Audiophiles.  While I have never heard the SLP05, I can certainly understand your change to the Ayre Twenty Series- seriously good gear.
What other gear including rounds out your system currently?

Hope that you are well and preparing for Summer.

Good to see you here again. Yes, the Ayre AX-5 Twenty, still tops my list.
I will procure this integrated amp very soon.  Hope that you will return to a pair of Thiel Audio loudspeakers sooner rather than later.

Musical - is the key word that defines Ayre gear. And this is not a bad thing at all. Stay safe out there.

Thank You for the update.  How do you like the synergy between Accuphase and Ayre?
