tomthiel Oh my, looks like trouble indeed. Hope this tech becomes a "stand-up" Guy and finishes the job as previously arranged. If not, feel free to post as much information as you wish to warn the other Classe' owners out there.Keep us posted.

Good to see you again. Thank You for citing Tellurium Q as a sonic match for Thiel speakers. This brand is on my short-list to audition.
Happy Listening! |
dsper Thank You for the update. I like CJ gear as well. What cabling is in your system? Happy Listening!

dsper
Cullen Cable has a pretty good following. Historically, I have heard CJ gear with AudioQuest and Audience cables & cords only. Remember, this is the forgotten or overlooked component.

There are a few contributors here that suggest SR cables and power cords on their Thiel speakers. Go for it. Happy Listening!

Good to see you again. As luck would have it, there are plenty of Thiel loudspeakers in heavy rotation on the secondary market. You will know when it is time to obtain your next pair. Hope you are well and enjoying this Fall season in NY. I look forward to your next excellent system.

Welcome! Good to see you here- an excellent post all around. Very sweet owning (2) systems. Also good to read that your CS 2.4 speakers arrived safe and sound to your locale. Interesting that you are a speaker builder, those DIY skills are going to come in handy as beetlemania and tomthiel are working in concert on a cross-over project in conjunction with Mr. Rob Gillum due later this Fall. Stay Tuned.

Thank You for sharing your thoughts here. You are one of the very few that owned a pair of CS 2.7 and 3.7 in-house for direct comparison daily.
Absolutely! once any of these models are locked-in for imaging, you will know it immediately. Happy Listening!

Thank You for the caps tech talk. Keep it coming Sir! Thinking about Marty Balin today (R.I.P.) and his vocals on the song "Miracles" from Red Octopus album. This is a demo track in any format as he delivers one hell of a crescendo performance, sure to test any speaker's midrange capability.

Thank You for the ModWright perspective. There have been several questions, requests on mating this brand with our beloved Thiel speakers. Good to read that the two brands are a sonic match.

sandydennis11 Thank You for the ARC 75SE post. What speakers are you seeking now that you sold the CS 3.7 model? Happy Listening!

andy2 Cabling talk, is most certainly welcomed here, as it is, my favorite aspect of our hobby. Pertinent to any system and critical for true synergy. As we build a preferred Amplifier list, it would not be a bad idea to build a cabling list as well. We all hear differently and have different tastes / brands of cables/power cords endorsed.

Always good to see you here my Brother. Yes, this little section of the Long Island City has been very kind to us. Slowly but surely the local bars and eateries are opening, certainly during lunch hour into the early evening. Not sure about late evening?
Agreed, I was informed about the shopping malls- makes sense as L.I. has quite the real estate for it.
I will contact you very soon. Is Audio Den open for auditions?
Happy Listening!

oblgny Spoken like a true connoisseur in hobby, life and work. Good to see you here as always. I will keep my eyes peeled for those 2.2 or 2.3 models. Happy Listening!

tomthiel Thank You for the technical, even physical nature, of cabling within a scientific framework. I consider your background and education pivotal here. Hope you are well and enjoying the New York state Fall. Happy Listening!

Another excellent post. Agreed, materials science and metallurgy are fascinating to me. These factors have drawn me to cables and power cords since the 1990's. It all begins w one's first aftermarket interconnect or power cord purchase. Happy Listening!

which city/town in CT are you located?

I would be interested in your recollection of cables and power cords that Thiel Audio used in the lab. You have touched on some of the power amp(s) that were incorporated for lab testing. Perhaps Jim had a favorite brand that was tested, utilized.

My pleasure. I have been in worse circumstances and places during military service. Still, this is my occupation/profession. The hope is that you guys will catch a break for the rest of 2020. If not, the Cavalry, will mobilize again to assist. The locals really support this hospital- no question about it. Strong Work!
Good to read that you are enjoying the Belles integrated. Will it reach a sonic match for the 3.5 (your fave Thiel speaker)?

I have a Bryston 4B3 and BP-17(3) demo in a few weeks. I have had several Bryston 4B-SST, SST2 and BP-26 audtions in the past. Really looking forward to the new cubed series audition. Stay tuned.

Good to see you. Thank You for the comments. I would not mind getting a demo on the ML No. 585 integrated. It has received high marks all around. The early reports on the Bryston 4B3 is that it has a warmer presentation than previous series. This might account for the presentation, sound that you heard during your demo.

Thank You for your comments and replies to my query. I think that we all started with Monster Cable at one time or another. I know that Transparent then M.I.T. were some of the earliest adopters of aftermarket cabling and power cords. It would be interesting to learn which company came into existence in Europe and Japan. No doubt that Ray Kimber had a hand in those early days of cabling. Wonderful CES story. A few years ago I did hear Straight Wire and was impressed with its entry level IC and PC. Very musical to my ears. This tells us that one does not need to spend much money to achieve great sound. Happy Listening!

nice deduction on the Acoustic Zen cables. Over the years, I have spent the most time, owned, Transparent Audio products. From my previous system I endorsed the Super IC and PC. Very good for little money. Imagine my surprise when I had more than several opportunities to audition the top-tier Ref, RefXL and OPUS cabling systems. Beyond belief. Happy Listening! |
brayeagle I am looking forward to the audition as well. It is going to be interesting to learn the advancement of the cubed series. Happy Listening! |

Welcome! Good to see you here. Consider another Integra receiver, if you like its sound.
Otherwise, consider a Creek or Music Hall integrated amp. This is a sonic match, especially, for a small room.
I look forward in reading more about your musical tastes and system.
Happy Listening!

As above, yes the system has been buggy all week for me as well. The original or version 1.0 never had these issues... |
