Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Much Thanks! for the update - tomthiel

Simmering is very good, as I know, that there are CS 1.6 owners, that could benefit from an upgrade. Keep up the excellent work and research.

Happy Listening!

Much Thanks! Al and prof

I can remember never having any issues w/ the "old" Audiogon.

This newer or 2.0 platform is issue-laden to be sure.

Happy Listening!

Agreed brayeagle, Bryston took a lesson from the BCD-1 player and applied it to the newer BCD-3 spinner. Good to have you aboard.

Nice musical selections - prof

The MFSL gold cd set for SNF soundtrack are reference discs. Not sure if MoFi released a LP version?

Good to see you as always - tomthiel
Thank You for the PowerPoint / CS 2.4SE updates. I know that you guys have been researching and working hard on this tasker. Having a little fun along the way helps as well. No doubt that you and your team are going to become a success with this endeavor.

I concur  - prof
to my ears, the CS 2.4 through CS 3.7 loudspeaker models have incredible coherency. After I overcame the overtly rich timbre of these speakers, I noticed how remarkable the coherent factor, top to bottom.
I consider myself very fortunate to have had such auditioning sessions prior to any purchase.

Excellent points - JonI, too, did not find Revel nor Aerial nowhere near appealing once I discovered Thiel. This turned out to be a good thing and saved me from making a poor purchase decision. There is something positive to be said for time-phase coherence. Vandersteen gets as close as possible, still, it is not Thiel.

Much Thanks! for the over-view on factors that you are trying to accomplish. Several of you guys across many Audio forums are using Pass Labs/Conrad Johnson. The ET-3 is sweet. The ET-3SE is even sweeter. Are you tube rolling?

Welcome! brayeagleyou will find the 3.5 model very popular here. I will second the Bryston 4B-SST/SST2 power amp. This combo is a very fine match. I want to demo the new 4B3 (cubed) for a comparison.  I look forward in reading more about you and your Audio journey.
Happy Listening!
You have quite a few years of Audio experience - brayeagle. It must be exciting to have witnessed all of those changes over time.I am a CD/SACD guy myself. The Bryston BCD3 is a very fine spinner.I would not mind having a BCD1, but, the company did not stock pile replacement transports/other critical parts for repair?

Good to see you - dhoff01Do you know how many pairs of the Les Paul Edition were produced?I concur that finish is simply beautiful. I know that you are enjoying your pair. You have a nice room and system set-up. I would not worry about rear wall reflection. The absorption panel is doing its job.

Much Thanks! for the update  - corvette01

good to read that the speakers found the next good home. Perhaps the buyer will join us here?

Happy Listening!

Very interesting - tomthiel

As always, Thank You, for the historical perspective on Jim's designs.

Hope you are having fun back in the lab.

Good to see you - oblgny

hope you are well and enjoying Summer my Brother. Yes, over on other Audio forums, there are guys using the Mac/Thiel combo. It can be done with their more robust power amps as Tom cites.

How is your next Thiel speaker search working out? I watch several sites for you guys and will post as I see certain models as of interest/demand.

I sure would like to see you obtain a CS 2.4 or newer.

Happy Listening!

Welcome! occtoys

I look forward in reading more about you and your Audio journey.

The 3.5 is beloved by many of the guys here. You are among very good company.  Happy Listening!

Good to see you - thielrules
the Bryston 3B-ST is still a very capable power amp. Does it perform well on your other pair of 3.5 speakers? Agreed at 30 x 30, your room is very large indeed. If you get the itch to upgrade, the CS 3.7, would flourish very well in your room!

Happy Listening!
I am always here for you - oblgnyHope you are well and enjoying Summer there in NY.Happy Listening!
Much Thanks! tomthielfor the continued insight and perspective(s) on the facts that made Thiel into the best loudspeaker company since inception. Good to read that you found a repair service for those Classe' power amps. That company has a strong following as well. Keep researching and writing.

Happy Listening!
Thank You - ronkentPS Audio has become quite a force in the industry and our hobby.Paul and his company have certainly grown and expanded by research and development. I would have never thought that, outside of line/power conditioners and regenerators, he would offer pre-power amps or dac/transport/streamer(s).I wish that I had more Audio company/manufacturer representative(s) here. The invitation is extended to those guys as well.

I discovered Spoon (2) albums back from their current offering. Yes, this thread is strong  by the grace of the contributors, experts and fans.
As your reading proves, there are many of the guys that have owned Thiel loudspeakers since the 1980's. Impressive!

Good to have you back in the fold of things - dancastagna
I wonder as well how many are using a newer or more recent, 2000 and forward, Classe' power amp?  The 90's models seem to be coveted.
I guess we all can query about an older, 1999 and backward, Krell or Mark Levinson?

Good to see you - dsper
Nice system. I hope one of the guys here or Rob Gillum may be of service to you. Keep us posted on this development.

Very sweet looking speaker cables. It would be interesting to learn if that cable could be used on a different brand of power amp? Consider consulting the seller to inquire more about applications. Keep me posted on your purchase decision.

I am considering an Ayre power amp as well. Not sure about the integrated or separates? Certainly the Twenty series pulls out all of the stops. How loudly do you listen? No report of clipping is  very good sign.
Happy Listening!
Much Thanks! beetlemaniaI have read about other Thiel CS 2.4 owners using an AX-7 integrated amp to good effect. We all listen at different levels (SPL). I did not know the capability of power output real world for an AX-7/AX-5 ?
Happy Listening!
Good to see you - thielisteI must admit that not familiar with either of these brands. Keep us posted on which way you go.  Happy Listening!

PS Audio has really stepped up to the digital challenge w/ their line of DAC/Streamer/Transport. Already receiving rave reviews in the Audio press as well.
