Very nice! unsound. I enjoy reading your posts across these forums. I venture to say that spending 30 years w/ this brand does indeed make you an expert.
How did you first discover Thiel loudspeakers 30 years ago? Which models have you owned historically?

Excellent points- robinbarbour upon listening to the CS 2.4 and CS 2.4SE models, I did not hear any Bass roll off. In fact, the Bass presentation to my ears was full, articulate and pleasing. This occurred wether or not I was listening at low levels or much louder levels. Made me a believer and owner. Happy Listening!

I read an article talking about a modded Oppo 105 player by Bill Thalmann.
I would be interested in learning about the specifics. Perhaps Bill offers "mods" to other Oppo players?

Excellent system- ronkent many owners of the 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 remark about Sound Anchors. Hopefully your pair will find a good home. Happy Listening!

unsound- your story is very close to my own. My first taste of Thiel occurred at Soundscape in Baltimore. This dealer/retailer featured a pair of CS 2.4 and Vandersteen 2 CE Signature, 3A models. I was able to switch between all (3) for several months. The CS 2.4 won as it had the richest sound/timbre to my ears. Happy Listening!

Good to see you- catalysis after we clear this holiday season, I will contact Rob Gillum and attempt to get some information on this situation, as well as his own at Thiel customer service.

Very nice gear selection- ish_mail I know your CS 3.7 delivers hours of musical joy. Serious room treatment applications as well. I look forward in reading more about your system, tastes in music. Happy Listening!

Nice score on those Model 01 speakers. Good to read that these Vintage loudspeakers are still out there. There is a Sony ES SCD-1 in CT area via
U.S. Audiomart for those owners looking for a back-up. In the Digital realm, Audiophiles can never own too many back-up Spinners.
Happy Listening!

Yes, during my 1st Thiel CS 2.4 demo, the dealer/retailer (Soundscape Baltimore MD) actually had the Vandy 2CE Signature and 3A models in the same room. I was on work assignment for 4 months, so, I spent several listening sessions every week w/ that speaker lot.
The basic CS 2.4 is much more dynamic, realistic timbre, compared to the Vandys. Much richer presentation as well. I will say that the CS 2.4SE is more on-par w/ the 3A Signature. Very close between those (2) models. To my ears, Thiel is the richest, most accurate speaker, that I have heard to date. If you enjoy the Vandy sound, the 3A Signature is a nicer upgrade, especially, used/demo. Keep me posted.

My pleasure- beetlemania the Thiel speaker will give you the details, transparency and resolution, no doubt about it. Once you have had a taste, you will be hooked (I know that I was on first audition). The CS 2.4SE continues to build upon the excellent design incorporated in the standard 2.4 model. Happy Listening! |
Good to see you- JohnnyR
Much Thanks for the perspective and advice for the Vandersteen owners. Happy Listening! |
Right On! beetlemania much like the CS 2.4 speaker is the sweet spot for Thiel Audio, the 2CE or 3A is certainly the sweet spot for Vandersteen. Things get even sweeter via CS 2.4SE and 2CE signature/ 3A signature. Hope this information has been helpful.

Welcome! arvincastro
there are many experts here on the CS 3.5 loudspeaker. I look forward in reading more about your system and upgrade path from integrated to separates. Happy New Year!

Good to see you- William,
I knew that you would chime in here to assist Arvin. Happy Listening!

oblgny-
since you have owned and lived w/ several Integrated amps, which one fared better w/ Thiel speakers? We have the same musical tastes and I value your input/opinion as always.
Happy Listening!

Thank You- oblgny you have had quite an Audio journey my friend. We all are lucky to enjoy such a fun hobby. Is there any new gear or upgrades headed your way in 2018?
Happy Listening!

Good to see you- prof
I concur- Conrad Johnson is very fine in both tubed and solid state applications. I can also attest to the Bryston 4B st/ sst power amp. It mates very well w/ an ARC tubed pre-amp, the best combo involved Ref5SE model.
Happy Listening!

Another +vote for Rogue Audio- I found their gear to sound better than an ARC integrated, better value as well.

My pleasure- arvincastro
I consider William (oblgny) to be the thread's resident 3.5 speaker expert. I can only attest to models CS 2.4 to CS 3.7 modern designs. I look forward in reading more about your system and musical tastes. Happy Listening! |
Current listings here; (1) pair of CS 2.7 speakers in White (very rare). (1) pair of CS 2.4 speakers. Hope these guys find a good home. Happy Listening! |
Good to see you again- ranchhand1

robinbarbour- any new gear headed your way in 2018?

Nice! ranchhand1 nothing wrong w/ owning and using older gear- especially, if the system synergy is right. Happy Listening!

Very sweet! beetlemania where did you find and purchase your 2.4 SE speakers? What serial numbers do you own?
Last speaker- well reported. Happy Listening!

Good to see you- bcarr38 good advice from beetlemania. Watch this site, eBay, Craigslist, and US Audio Mart daily. Funny thing, prior to the holiday season there was a pair on here and eBay. As always, if i spot a pair, I will post for you guys.

Very nice! beetlemania. you and me share one of the last pairs built. As far as I know a simple microcloth is fine for cleaning. I do not believe that the special finish requires polishing. If I find out otherwise, I will message you.
Happy Listening!

bcarr38-
a quick check over on US Audio Mart, I spotted a pair of CS 3.7 speakers in CA dated from October 2017. The listing still appears active and available for purchase. Hope you can grab them!
