Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

The seller is the 2nd owner. The 1st owner originally purchased in 2009 in NJ/NY area.  I will try to gather more history on this particular pair. I hope that you are well and enjoying the Holiday season.

Good to see you here. I know! Regarding this new found information, I am quite curious to learn where production really stopped for the CS 2.4SE?

Could pair #217/218 really represent the last Factory numbers?

2nd Note- I believe that it is fair to report that Upstream of gear is important for every Thiel model. Especially, the newer CS 2.4, 2.4SE, 2.7 and 3.7 Loudspeakers.

Good to see you here today. There are several 3.6 fans and owers here on the Panel. Stay tuned until one of those guys chimes in to address your query.

What gear is current in your system? I am thinking that you own a Marantz SA-10 Reference player?

Good to see you as always. You owned some nice Thiel models. What factor made you decide to move on from  a 7.2 to CS 3.7 loudspeaker?

Always good to see a Marantz KI Pearl owner. Not many of these Reference players were produced.

Welcome! Good to see you here. I would say seek out a Vandersteen 3A Signature loudspeaker. This will closely mimic a Thiel CS 2.4, CS 2.7 or CS 3.7 model. Take the time to read throught this thread for additional information on older/vintage loudspeakers. Well annotated per members of the Panel.

I owned a pair of Cerwin Vega AT-12 from 1988 to 1995. A great mid-fi, Rock music speaker.

CODA is a sonic match with Thiel speakers.

What other gear is in your system?

Ah, the good ole days. Back then,  my group of friends each had a different pair of CV with different gear. And we lit them up!

Thank You for another Thiel Audio history lesson. Another +vote for Michael Hedges Aerial Boundaries. Excellent disc to test any system.

I will second, Klipsch. Like so many great loudspeaker designers, Paul, had a vision and built some absolute classic models.

Yes, on the demo sessions last year, I was enjoying the Music 40-45 range of volume settings. Plenty loud enough for my ears. And I like it LOUD!

I friend owned the Apogee Slant 8 model back in the early 90's. I really enjoyed that loudspeaker's sound.  It would be a fun side-by-side shoot out w/ a pair of Thiel CS 2.4 loudspeakers.

Excellent! Those FPB 350 MC are incredible. At least ask the seller for a demo just to hear the presentation and sound. Luxman is making a fierce comeback here in the U.S. Keep me posted and have fun!

Nice catch! White- is a rare finish on the CS 2.4 and CS 2.7 speakers.

Nice catch!  Either last year or back in 2021, one of the Panel members spotted a pair of CS 2.7 speakers that had been painted "white" privately. i wonder if those loudspeakers found the next home? To my recollection, those speakers were on Reddit.

No doubt that you know your business regarding Paint(s).

Nice score! on the Krell FPB 600c power amp. No doubt that current and power are enough to drive those CS7 speakers properly.

Good to see you here. That was a nice thread. I wonder if those guys are still enjoying both CS 2.3 and CS 2.4 loudspeakers in 2021 ?

this one is for you my Audiophile friend. Yesterday, I took delivery of an AYRE AX-5 integrated amp  in black casing.  As soon as I return home, I will post a photo in Virtual Systems.  Now comes the best part of our hobby- Cabling!

Thank You for providing your assessment of mrpostfire's query.
I cannot imagine a modern Thiel loudspeaker (CS2.4, 2.4SE, 2.7 or 3.7) being any Blacker in the background?

Welcome!  Good to read that you saved a pair of Thiel loudspeakers from a dumpster?  Go ahead and seek out a pair of CS 2.4 loudspeakers- you and your Son will not be disappointed. Keep me posted and have fun!

3rd note;

how do I clean/maintain the Vermillion maple finish on my speakers?
Much Thanks! guys-

I first auditioned the 2.4SE (2) years ago in NC and was hooked.
At that time the dealer/retailer- Audio Video Excellance in Raleigh
used Anthem, Cary and Audioquest gear.

(3) years ago i got my 1st taste of the CS 2.4 w/ Creek , NAD and Audioquest gear. I was hooked then as well.  I feel the "SE" is a little sweeter to my ears.  Of recent I have read about Conrad Johnson and Pass Labs being a sonic match. I am interested in both companies and each makes a new integrated amp. As we all know their separates are superb.  Above all, cabling is my "thing". It is going to be a fun ride!
