Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Good to have you aboard- corvette01-

I look forward to your impressions, thoughts and listening preferences on all things Thiel.  You are in for quite a ride. Sure, a 5-channel amp is fine. The more robust, the better.  Do not forget about power amp(s) that support high current as well.  You own a nice system.

Happy Listening!
corvette01-

where are you located?  I have enjoyed reading your input on this particular thread! Keep writing and Happy Listening!
As William suggested a few months ago- you guys list the serial numbers for your Thiel speakers.  As above, I would certainly keep those Les Paul Edition 3.7 speakers.  A very rare production model indeed. Beautiful as well.

Happy Listening!

I, too, do know how I feel about Class D amplification. I have only been exposed to the Anthem 225 and Primare I-22 integrated amps.

I am certain that Primare has made great strides in the newer 32 and 34 series of electronics, in particular, its CD32 spinner.

I can report that the Anthem 225 is very high current. So much so, that it easily drove the mighty CS 3.7 without clipping. I do listen at loud volumes.
Louder = better.

Happy Listening!
Very nice locale -corvette01

you have access to many, many excellent Audio shops in IL, WI and MN.

Happy Listening!
Good to see you again- pops.

Agreed, an integrated can certainly work w/ Thiel speakers. It is a very good thing to have options.  Happy Listening!
As I have read about it- Anthem has several new products hitting the marketplace in the Fall.  New amps, new receivers and new processors.
More to follow.  Happy Listening!
Not sure about Class H- corvette01 ?

There has been much written about Class D becoming the future in amplification.  Let your ears be your best resource. Happy Listening!

take your time in selecting gear for your Thiel speakers.  The hobby is not a sprint, but, a marathon. Get out to your local dealers/retailers and listen, listen, listen.  Keep writing and posting your listening thoughts, impressions and advice.  Have fun.

Happy Listening!
Specs are okay, at best- unsound.

There are plenty of power amps that do very well and spec less than impressive. As always, let our ears be our guide through this Audio journey.

Happy Listening!
Good to see you- drrsutliff

Much Thanks! for sharing your listening impressions. You are correct, in that, a tubed pre-amp and solid -state power amp is a magical combo.
Over the years and my listening experiences, I prefer a robust ss power amp with a tube preamp.  The CS 2.4 speaker is indeed special.

Happy Listening!
Welcome! back -catalysis-

Nice score-  I know you love the 3.5 model. Which preamp/power amp combo is on your radar?

Happy Listening!
You are certainly in an area to audition gear- William.
Keep me posted and have fun.

Happy Listening!
Nice list of gear and brands to consider- William.
Bryston is a sonic match for Thiel speakers, the previous owner of my 2.4SE was using a BP-26 preamp and 4B SST power amp combo in his dedicated listening room. Excellent sound and presentation on vinyl and cd playback. We listened for several hours prior to my purchase.
Happy Listening!
Good to see you- Jon and William.
nice scores all around guys.  Celebrate w/ a cold Summer ale.
Hopefully Rob at Thiel hq can be of service to your needs William.

Happy Listening!

Excellent information -prof

For me, it is hard to listen to another speaker brand after listening to Thiel. All of the models are in a class by themselves.

Happy Listening!

Good to see you again. Are you building a new loudspeaker? What else is on your radar this Spring season?
Happy Listening!
Guys
there is a new loudspeaker on the scene in the tradition of Time -Coherent design- Qln Prestige Three. This model made a debut at RMAF 2019.

Happy Listening!

during your daily trek into the city, are you taking any time to audition Audio gear?  Happy Listening!

Thank You for the update and stay safe. Looking forward in reading about your speaker designs.

Happy Listening!
Good to see you as always- oblgny.
I agree, in that, home improvement is a valuable investment. I have had a few projects this year myself. Once completed you can focus on other facets of life including hobbies. Big fan of REL subwoofer(s).  The best in the business especially the older models. Those products really enhance any system's bottom line. Only a few weeks left of Summer as we prepare for Fall. Keep me posted on any gear up for audition.

David Garretson- dgarretson- can answer your query. He is our resident Clarity Cap / OEM source. Hope he sees this post. Otherwise send him a email via this Audiogon message system.  If your speakers are new and/or has a remaining warranty, contact Rob at Thiel HQ in Kentucky.
Keep me posted on this project.

Thank You for the CS4/CS5 Thiel Audio history lesson.
I hope that you are well this Holiday season.

Happy Listening!
Absolutely! corvette01-

good to see you and a nice score to boot. Will your CS 1.6 speakers go in the 2nd system?
Happy Listening!
Agreed William,
a damn shame about Saab. I owned one back in the 80's.
A fun car to drive and could weather any road conditions.

The new iteration of Thiel has probably reached a point of no return.
As luck has it, there are a plethora of original JT designs in the secondary market. Happy Listening!
Thanks! for the update- corvette01
good to see you again and read that all of your systems are flowing.

I was hoping that dgarretson would chime-in on the cross-over discussion. He is well versed in the oem parts used by Mr. Thiel on models CS2.4SE, CS 2.7 and CS 3.7 speakers. I will attempt to reach him via email and direct him your way. More to follow.
