I was beginning to wonder about you guys? No matter what I buy all-year round, I always save a little something "extra' for Christmas.
I, for one, am looking forward to 2017. Happy Listening! |
Me as well- William, I am looking forward to your updates. Happy Friday |
|
I concur- thieliste
that is a terrific buy on the CS 3.7- All Thiel loudspeakers are world-class. Happy Listening!
|
|
robinbarbour-
You are very smart for not passing on an excellent deal for the CS 2.7- We all have to take those once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase gear for our systems. Remember, the CS 3.7 does require a large to very large listening room to really experience its full potential.
|
|
thieliste,
are the spikes from the original Outriggers?
Consult Rob at Thiel in Kentucky. info@thiel.com
|
I see. thieliste
If you have a local Thiel dealer, this may be another avenue to pursue. Keep me posted. Happy Listening!

The real beauty w/ the CS 3.7 is to place it into a listening space of 20x20 (at least) and experience its inherent soundstaging, imaging, overall unrivaled dynamics. I suspect a smaller space might work, it would have to be something "special" though? Custom built and tuned room perhaps?

tomthiel My pleasure to assist. Absolutely! too many cables/cords, so little time! And to think most of the better products are over in Europe. Japan is not far behind the EU. Happy Listening!
|
Excellent points all around- gentlemen,
I concur w/ the panel, (probably) except for the lowest notes, these speakers do not lack Bass. Happy Listening! |
|
Excellent observation- thieliste,
I would not use a subwoofer as well. Happy New Year!
|
Gentlemen,
as we start a new year, I wanted to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for making this thread such a success in 2016.
It started off w/ post #1. Then reply #1 and completely took off on its own as others joined in to share their thoughts, impressions, even counterpoints and experiences w/ all things Thiel! Outstanding work- All.
Here's to even more success in 2017. -JA Fant Esq.

Worth noting; dgarretson (Dave) sells the Clarity Cap OEM parts/supplies for the many cross-overs that fit and upgrade our beloved Thiel loudspeakers. Again, a no-brainer!
Happy Listening!

Good to see you guys- robinbarbour, oblgny, dlcockrum
Happy Listening!

Good to see you again, pops-
Happy Listening!

As above-
for my own personal curiosity I want to demo both Verity Audio and Magico loudspeakers. I would never "quit" my sweet CS 2.4SE speakers.
I tend to agree that Thiel on the used/demo market, simply, cannot be touched for the price vs performance ratio. Add to these facts that Rob Gillum is holding it down at Thiel KY for our legacy models and it is a no-brainer.

dlcockrum-
REL makes the best sub in the business. Thanks! for sharing.
Happy Listening!
|
Thank You! dgarretson. Happy New Year.

Anyone else want to share a road-trip for gear story?
|
Keep me posted and Happy Listening!
|
Excellent discussion today -gentlemen.
keep us posted- thieliste. Happy Listening!
|
Hope you get the thing(s) in which you seek.
Happy Listening!

Anyone else wish to share their story? |
Great road-trip story robinbarbour
I traveled 12 hrs one way to pick up my CS 2.4SE speakers last January. Wonderful trip, met a fellow Audiophile and pleasant gentleman, listened to my speakers prior to taking ownership. IMO, certain gear is not meant to be shipped per parcel. I will travel anywhere in the USA to audition and pick up only the very best gear (as I would not want it shipped/possibly damaged.)
Happy Listening! |
Hang in there- thieliste.
|
Patience is a virtue, especially, in this hobby.
Happy Listening!
|
Good to see you audiomax-
the major difference between the CS 2.3 and CS 2.4, in that, a new oval Bass radiator was introduced on the CS 2.4.
I never thought that a "passive" radiator could add so much depth to a speaker- well it does !!! |
Nice story oblgny-
I would never kvetch as well. Life is too short...
Happy Listening! |
Not sure what you mean by "issues?" unsound.
To my ears the passive radiator does reduce port noise. By doing so, the Bass adds depth and articulation. Happy Listening!
|
You are on a roll...thieliste.

Good to see you- Dave- dlcockrum
you guys really know much about JT older models. I know he his proud that his designs are still being enjoyed by all of us in 2017. There are not many that can make this kind of claim. Sometimes, if we are lucky, a product comes along that gives us listening pleasure for decades.
Happy Listening!
|
Good to see you again- robinbarbour-
very well laid out. Whatever JT had in his mind regarding his design(s), it works! Happy Listening!
|
Happy Listening! unsound.
|
Excellent point- dlcockrum.
I can see how the Thiel Smartsub could be added for the sake of "adding a sub." My understanding is that JT built the sub to accompany the SC4 monitor system.
Happy Listening!

Good to see you again- bobsjr4
interesting query. I would like to see pics of your system. Are you listed here in Virtual Systems? I did not find the CS 2.4 nor my sweet CS 2.4SE speakers to lack Bass. In fact, upon 1st listening, it was the articulate, natural, timbre of the Bass in recordings that struck me like lightning.
I am a big Jazz Hound as well. I love hearing an upright Bass/Double Bass in all of its inherent glory.
|
Excellent advice- dlcockrum
REL makes the best sub in the business. Very easy to integrate this product into any existing system. The older models cannot be beat (no pun) for their performance. Happy Listening!
|
We would like to see pics of your system- bobsjr4
|
bobsjr4-
you have a large listening space. I would love to see it and listen w/ you next time I travel through Dallas. Now, I can understand how you would feel about some kind of deficiency in the lower registers.
|
TY- unsound. Happy Listening!
|
How ya doin' out there- guys?
