Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Good to see you again- Thieliste

Do you live in France? The Paris show is excellent, I read the reviews every year.  Much Thanks! for posting your thoughts and impressions.

A few years ago, I had a demo w/ a system featuring TAD speakers as well.
I was not impressed, especially, for that kind of money? So, the presentation may not be of ML fault?  Every time I have demo'ed ML gear, I was not disappointed- even w/ Aerial loudspeakers (another disappointment).

Have not had an opportunity to audition Dan D'Agostino's gear,
Gryphon as Jond pointed out, Hegel nor MW.  I have spent time w/ the Aesthetix gear- it is excellent!  You will enjoy your listening time.

As always, do not forget to give a shout-out to your local dealer/retailer.
2nd Note Thieliste;

my demo w/ the Aesthetix gear was in a combo Macbook server/Oppo 105D, Vandy Treo/Quattro loudspeakers.  It was a little tough to discern any fault(s) in that system. Both the Treo/Quattro speakers a very difficult to set up and dial-in to a room (i have read).  I can report that the room was dead quiet and sound -proofed to the max, courtsey of John Fort Audio in Dallas TX.

I did spend a few different listening sessions over a few different weeks for good measure.  In the past, I have enjoyed several Vandy auditions- the 2CE/Ci and 3A / A Signature speakers.  IMO, these sound better than the Treo/Quattro.  Overall, Vandy is not Thiel, which is the reason why, I prefer
the CS Series- CS 2.4, CS 2.4SE, CS 2.7 & the mighty CS 3.7 loudspeakers.
In the same theme- Guys,

which Pass Labs or Threshold models should be at the top of my list?
First Watt? Coda?

Happy Listening!
dlcockrum (David),
enjoys Classe' - any of these models to consider?

The gear does not have to be current or new. I can go with older gear if needed.
Dave-

I do not own the CJ 350 SS amp. I am always on the look out for one.
I have not heard it w/ an ARC pre-amp. I did demo it w/ a CJ ACT2 Series2.
This is my reference, best audition to date.

No problem- Dave.

the CJ 350 SS is a very fine power amp. Not many were built, rather rare as owners tend to hold onto them. I wish that CJ would update this particular amp. Happy Listening!
As we enter December and ramp up for the Holiday Season, I know the things, in which I am grateful.  Season's Greetings!

oh yeah, Happy Listening!
Nice to see you- ronkent

Many Thanks! for the suggestion. You have a nice pair of speakers in the CS 2.7 model.  What other gear, including cabling, is in your system?

Second- the Sound Anchor for those not wanting to hunt for a pair of Thiel original outriggers.

I look forward to your contributions here. A plethora of information is at your finger tips. Happy Listening!
I , too, am interested in reading about RonKent's system.

Very interesting using a PS Audio BHK amp.

Happy Listening!
Good to see you again- Jeff (frozentundra)

I will attempt to take pics on my iPhone and try to load into the Audiogon system soon.  I do not know how the picture quality (PQ) will turn out.

So far, I own the CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. A 2-channel system will be built around them.  Nice to read about your system's evolution.

Which Thiel model do you own?

Happy Listening!
frozentundra (Jeff), oblgny (William), dlcockrum (Dave),
and other esteemed gentlemen of this thread. I have posted a few pics
in the Virtual Systems section here on the 'Gon. Check out "Alabama Getaway".  Happy Listening!
Thank You -jond
for the positive feedback. I listen to music in my GMC truck w/ top Bose / XM radio system. At home, I listen to certain internet radio via B&W MM-1 computer speakers. I keep both tuned up w/ various tweaking/system tuning CDs for optimal playback.  When I travel for business, I take a few well known discs w/ me as I visit dealers/retailers abroad.

Happy Listening!
TY- thieliste for the kind words.

Patience, makes it all possible. I was fortunate enough to spend 3 months w/ the original CS 2.4 on a related work assignment. Additionally, I spent another 3 months listening to the CS 2.4 SE #50/51 under the same circumstances. Several days per week for the entire 3 months I listened to those models.  That is how I came about my decision to purchase.

The hardest part of the reference equation is solved.  Now, I can focus on the gear that will drive them.  I am in no rush as I accomplish perfection.

Happy Listening!
Aesthetix is excellent.

I really liked the Calypso Signature pre-amp.  I am leaning heavily to Pass Labs.  The hardest part is wether or not to go w/ a tubed pre-amp (Conrad Johnson, Audio Research or Aesthetix).

where are you located- thieliste?

Happy Listening!
Very nice area- thieliste,

I am impressed that you have access to such excellent gear and speakers.
Happy Listening!
TY- thieliste

I have not had a chance to demo the Dartzel products.
What gear, including cabling, is in your system?
Good to see you- oblgny,

I could not agree more about Mr. Brubeck. He was a Veteran to boot.
He left us Jazz Hounds a plethora of excellent music.

How is your breaking-in of the Pass Labs amp going?
You own a very nice system- thieliste,

are you going to replace every component? No, I will not have a DAC in my system.  I am into CD & SACD only.

Happy Listening!
TY- Dave,

as oblgny can attest to B.A.T. gear, it is on my demo list as well.

Happy Listening!
thieliste,

I will use a separate SACD player, as well as, a separate CD player.

I will consider mono block power amps as well. I have time on my side, no rush, no hurry, just do it right!

Happy Listening!

seek out Dave (dgarretson) as he sells the Clarity Cap OEM parts.

Also, contact Rob Gillum at Thiel in KY for a consultation.

Keep me posted. Happy Listening!

I have not had a chance to demo the Pass Labs gear. I will post here once I get an opportunity.  Happy Listening!

Yes- the 70's Phase linear did have a reputation for catching fire, as well as, those early editons of Counterpoint gear. After Counterpoint folded as a company, Mike Elliott did continue to offer repair/upgrades to his products. He is now retired. There is another Audiophile that took over that operation although it has been a few years back. A Google search might find the latest repair/upgrade tech currently.
Happy Listening!
Good to see you again- last_lemming,

I will concur w/ you on the Parasound. These amps are very much relevant in Audio circles under the helm of John Curl.

I particularly, enjoy his older "HCA" series. Very powerful, robust SS designs.  The newest integrated in on my must demo list for all of the praise it receives in the press.

It is good to learn that B.A.T. is a sonic match w/ both PL and Parasound!

Most important of all- which brand(s) of cabling are you using?
Good to see you again- michaeljbrown

Thanks! for sharing your thoughts.  Happy Listening!
William-

TY- for sharing your thoughts. Keep the Transparent cabling in your rig, as you can  always, move up their chain at leisure.  A musical reward awaits you for climbing to a better cable/cord.

Happy Listening!
2nd note;

the middle tier is a sweet spot for Transparent (both IC & SP cabling).
Keep a watch for higher tiered products at used/demo prices (this is where you hit pay dirt).

Happy Listening!
Excellent discussion gentlemen,

you guys are posting some really valuable information here. Keep up the good work.  Nice to see you -unsound.
