I am the happy owner of Mick's resurrected Grange. Until now (since 2022) I have used 303 tubes (Takatsugi). I remember Mick telling me years back that I should definitely also try 45 tubes with their respective adjusted settings; I might be actually even happier with those. Right then I bought a set of Sophia Electric 45s, but never used them. Two reasons: I loved the 303 sound, especially the wide open sound stage, and: the Taks are real eye-candy! I could, however, use some even better definition around artists and instruments, as well as a bit clearer voices (Mark Knopfler on "Brothers in Arms": I can only really understand 30% of what he's saying, digital or analog).
Question to this illustrious users group: has anybody experience with the switch from 303 to 45? What to watch out for, what to expect sound wise?
