Sony SS G7 matching Amp

Hi,

I recently bought a pair of Sony SS G7 from the 70s.  I used them with a Pioneer VSX-AX10i at loud volumes.  After a couple of weeks one of the tweeters broke and it is now being repaired.  I normally listen to electronic, pop, jazz and classical music.

My question is:

-  Do vintage speakers need vintage receivers to run safely?  Could it be that my year 2000 Solid State Amp broke it?
-  I have a Sony TA-A1ES which I plan on using with the SS G7, but now I am thinking of switching to a tube Amp altogether, would this make sense?  Is Solid State the wrong decision for Vintage amps?

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer Mastering.

Repair was successful :)

So there´s no real need to have a tube amplifier to run vintage speakers.  Anyhow I will purchase a tube preamp, to match the sound more to the vintage feel.
