The Arizona Audio Video Club began life as the Arizona Audiophile Society in 1985. The name was changed a few years back to more accurately reflect the varied interests of the members. The club meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month, at various locations in the greater Phoenix area. We occasionally schedule special interest meetings, with topics such as music listening, equipment evaluations, tech workshops, etc. Members receive monthly newsletters, either as hard copies or by e-mail. Members also enjoy discounts on purchases at several of the local audio and HT specialty stores. For more information, check out our website at www.azaudioclub.com

This will be a music meeting, featuring a club-member’s two-channel gear. Speakers are Serenity Acoustics Super-7s… serenityacoustics.com/products/thesuper7.html. These are a product of GR Research's Danny Richey. The Super-7s are hybrid mag-planar/dual-12"-bass systems, all open-baffle. Midrange and treble are handled by four custom-built Bohlender-Graebener midrange (Neo-10 PDR) drivers and one 3" Neo-3 PDR tweeter in an MTM arrangement. Bass is reproduced by two servo-controlled 12" cones driven by high-power bass amps that are designed with the servo controls. The Seven's sensitivity is high at 97dB.

Two different pairs of mono amps will be demonstrated: first, a pair of 8-Watt, Single-Ended-Triode amps, Coincident Frankenstein IIs. These use a dual-triode 13EM7 gain-and-driver tube, a 300B output tube, and a 5U4GB high-Voltage rectifier. We'll also hear a pair of WAVAC MD-805m amps. These are 55-Watt SETs using an 805 output and 5751 and 6Y6GT gain and driver tubes.

The system will also include a Conrad-Johnson MET1 vacuum-tubed preamp and an Oppo 95 disc player.

Refreshments will be served.
