Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat

I’m curious about this product from Perfect Path Technologies and would like to hear from those that have experience with it. I’ve bought and used the Total Contact enhancer and like what it does for my system so I’m interested in hearing how this Omega E mat performs.

“My only point is why in the world would someone sell something that does what is being claimed here without any legal protection at all?”

First, we don't know what legal protection may be in place. Secondly, others have already explained that, in some cases, keeping something secret may be a better option than seeking legal protection, through a patent or other means.

“ My guess and it's only a guess is there is nothing about these mats that can be patented. It's made from common everyday stuff.”

That is, as you said, only a guess.
It's been three weeks + since I put the last mat in my system, and I haven't made any other changes in that time. I'm loving the sound, and wanted to reiterate the importance of leaving the mat(s) in place. In my experience, there's a leap in transparency, clarity & coherency around the two week mark, and you begin to experience fully what it is capable of. Then, the improvements continue out to three weeks, and beyond.
Four weeks, and the sound is still getting better. Has anyone left things alone long enough to find out when it stops?

ozzy,

I have 1 MC-0.5 plugged into the wall duplex that feeds my system, and I haven't had any compatibility issues with the mats.
I spoke to Tim, and he gave me the address of the landing pad for
the Perfect Path website which will be up soon:

jetter,

My offer still stands to come up Burlington way and hear my system. As Tim says, just make sure to bring your Depends 😉
It could be some kind of quantum thing, and that involves spooky action at a distance.
Well,

A few weeks ago I decided to take the plunge, and ordered a dozen more from Tim. Add that to the 4 I had, and it makes 16. I’ve got two on my power panel, two under my CPT Equi=Core 300 balanced power unit, two each under my CD transport, DAC, pre & amp, and two on top of each speaker.

It’s two weeks today since I added the new ones. I’ve been waiting ’til they’ve had a chance to really charge up before posting. It’s been a great ride so far, the improvement in the bass, by itself, is amazing. I’m looking forward to even more over the next few weeks.
It doesn’t matter whether the gear is on or off, it’s the time.

Waiting for the mats to charge up can be frustrating for impatient people like me, but you’ll know it, and it’ll be worth it, when they “pop”. For me, that has been right around the two week mark, then things continue to improve. YMMV

I’ve noticed the sound will go temporarily south the day before they pop. Then, the next day, wow! If you’re well into the process, and things are off one day, I’ve learned that’s a good thing.
jetter,

Tim probably has  more insight into what is happening, but I honestly don’t have any idea what is going on. “Charging up” is just a phrase used to refer to the time period the mat has to stay in place before it reaches its full potential for sonic improvement in one's system.
I would remove the Bybees, if you want to hear everything the mat can do. In my experience, the two do not mix well. I also liked what the Bybees did before I tried the mats (and TC), but they are not even in the same league as the mats.

It's four weeks today since I put 16 mats in place (two on my power panel, and 14 in my system). Wow! Basically, the longer I leave them in place, undisturbed, the more real, solid, immediate, involving and natural sounding the music (and the space it is being performed in) gets.

If your experience is like mine, you will hear improvements in transparency and detail immediately, or fairly soon after, placing them. During the first two weeks the sound will vary from day to day, with it being “off” some days (usually followed by being really “on” the next day). Around two weeks, there will be a “pop” in the the sound quality. It will then continue to improve consistently out to three weeks, then four...and beyond?

I wanted to put two under (or on) each component (including my power conditioner and speakers), and two on my power panel. This many was a stretch for me, but I knew that's what I wanted eventually, and I decide to go for it, so I only have to go through the “charge up” period once, rather than several times.
“The break in phase of putting Mats in a system is real but not so severe as to make listening to music not enjoyable.”

David,

I totally agree, thank you for making this important point.

Five weeks yesterday since I placed 16 mats in my system, and the sound is still improving. When it will stop, I have no idea. I have not moved anything, or made  any changes at all to my system, during this time (nor do I particularly desire to). I’m simply hearing even more of the qualities that I (and others) have described previously.

Thanks again Tim, for making this audio adventure possible!

I have cards on my iPhone and iPad. Along with the other benefits Krissy mentioned, what particularly stands out to me is how quickly apps open up, and the overall increase in “responsiveness”. I am also seeing an increase in crispness and brightness of the screen.
Six weeks on my mats as of Thursday, and the sound is still improving. I've kind of made it my mission to see how long it keeps improving, while I don't make any changes to my system.
“This proved to me that quantum alignment of the electrons provided by Perfect Path Technology is a game changer in high end audio.”

mikeg,

you are absolutely correct to call it a game changer. I honestly never dreamed I could achieve what I have with my relatively modest components and system.
At Tim’s suggestion, I also removed the single MC-0.5 I had in my system yesterday. As I understand it, the effect takes several days to wear off, but I am already experiencing a very nice improvement without it. Fortunately (as far as I know) it didn’t cause any other problems with my gear.
geoffkait,

I'd go with the quantum electron (spin) alignment theory mentioned by mikeg above, but what do I know? It'd be great to understand exactly how it works, but, fortunately, no explanation is required to enjoy the benefits.
t_ramey,

I did perceive an improvement when I first added the MC-0.5, and then again when I treated the pins and painted the housing with TC. It had been in place ever since. When I added the mats, I assumed (never a good idea) it would continue to be beneficial, or at least not cause any harm. When Tim shared his experience removing them, I decided to try taking mine out.

It is puzzling how some people have such a hard time with the fact that results are entirely independent from explanation. A small child flips a switch, and the light comes on. That child has no understanding of how light bulbs or electricity work, yet the light comes on every time (unless someone forgot to pay the bill 😉).

Scientists conduct experiments, and observe the results. They then seek to understand and explain those results. The results are the same, before and after the explanation. The results don't wait until there is an explanation to manifest.

I have to say, if you have mats, cards, and/or TC in your system, and you also have High Fidelity MC-0.5s, or other HF products, you should consider removing the latter, to see if your experience matches mine (and Tim's).

I had been extremely happy with the improvements 16 mats brought to my system, but I am rather astonished at how much a single MC-0.5 was holding things back. It's been 3 days since I removed it. Tim says it takes 7 days for the magnetic effect to fully wear off.

Krissy,

It's been 8 days since I removed the MC-0.5 from my system, so the lingering effects should be gone. I have to agree with you, what a difference it has made! Thanks for spurring Tim on to remove them.

10 mats under each component?! I think I need to get down your way to hear that.
I could tick off all the usual audiophile checkboxes, but the main thing for me is that all the various types of music I enjoy are more engaging, involving, dynamic, lifelike, and natural sounding.
It's been almost 9 weeks since I placed sixteen mats in my system, and the sound is still improving. During this time, the only change I have made is to remove an HF MC-0.5 a couple weeks ago (Big improvement!). Before the mats, I treated the whole system pretty thoroughly with TC. To say that I am extremely pleased with how the mats, and TC, have improved the sound, along with increasing my enjoyment of music, feels like an understatement.
Just finished listening to a 1957 EMI recording of Sir Thomas Beecham conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. What wonderful, colorful music!

The illusion of being in the hall was VERY convincing. I’m sure it could be even more convincing, but I have a hard time saying how, until I hear it.
My mats have been in place, untouched for 11 weeks now. The sound quality is at least holding steady, possibly still improving. I have made one other change in my system recently (surrounding my tweeters with jute matting, nice improvement) so it's harder to tell.

I have two mats (vertically stacked, magnet sides facing each other) under each component (including my CPT 300 power unit) and on top of each speaker. I also have two mats, side by side, on my main power panel.

I haven’t tried any other configurations, because this one is working great, and I don’t want to mess with it.
jafreeman,

I know what you mean, with the mats, my system brings out the best in all my CDs, not just the well recorded/audiophile approved ones. I recently got a CD of Carlos Kleiber conducting the Vienna Philharmonic in Brahm's 4th Symphony. It's an incredible performance, but a digital recording from the early 80's. Now it sounds great too!
Then there are those of us who don't play, but have someone living with us for live music enjoyment and reference. My wife plays the violin, mandolin, mandolin-banjo, and has a  guzheng (chinese zither) arriving this week.
George,

lt is still sounding great. The thing that really stands out to me over the long term is the sheer naturalness of instruments & voices. This allows for involvement with, and emotional response to, the music that is very similar to what I experience at a live performance. To have this readily available, in the comfort of my own home, is truly a blessing.

My invitation still stands to come by and hear it for yourself, whenever you are up this way.
About a week and a half ago, I bluetacked an Alpha card on the back of each speaker, where I believe the crossover is. I already had two stacked Omegas on top of each speaker, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. They have settled in, and I am hearing another nice improvement in naturalness, clarity, and musical detail 😁
Same old, same old. Trolls, who have zero experience with the product being discussed, come here and rudely spew their bile. Then they get all offended when someone actually has the audacity to call them out for their bad behavior.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying music at a level of realism I never thought I’d achieve with my current equipment.

Like many others in this hobby, my purpose in pursuing it is to bring the amazing experience I have listening to live musical events into the comfort of my home, through recordings. To enjoy musical events that would be difficult, or impossible, for me to experience in person.

After extensively treating my system with TC, Omega Mats, and Alpha Cards, I have been able to get much closer to that goal than I ever dreamed possible, especially with the relatively modest equipment I own. Listening to music is now a very different, much more involving, enjoyable, and relaxing, experience than when I started down this road with my first TC treatment.

I just wanted to thank Tim for his years of hard work and persistence in making this possible.

“I don’t have any experience with this product, but those of you who do, and hear an improvement, are fools. If you were educated, like me, you’d know that.“

Thanks for your wisdom 🙄
