Opinion between MacIntosh CD Player and others?

Is there any significant difference between a Mcintosh CD Players and other brands?
I love MacIntosh and have a Pre. and an Amp. but I do not have any idea of the main difference that may exist between the rest of the CD players in the market. I have never heard a MacIntosh CD player.
Thanks very much!

I owned a MCD 7007 or 7008 back in the day, and I can tell you that I really enjoyed the sound. The MAC had a way of letting you know that it was on a different level than ordinary players. Comparing a Mac to say a Ayer or Cary player would be interesting.
I listened to the MAC changer for a couple of hours, attached to Mac amps, and compared it to a high-end Rotel CDP attached to the same gear. Mac was much nicer, much less bright and digital. I loved the changer, but couldn't afford the $2500 at the time.

I have since ordered an Olive Musica and decided to forego owning a mechanical changer at all, but if I was going to have one, that's the one I'd want.
I had a MCD 201 in my room for a few hours. I found it to be fatiguing after about an hour or so, and quite uninvolving. It played loudly, but not lively. It was plugged directly into my MC7200 amp via balanced Cardas Cross ic's.

I purchased a Cary 303-300 instead and run it directly into the MC7200. The sound is phenomenal. Warm, detailed, dynamic, lively, involving. I could go on.

I suggest borrowing a Mac cdp before purchasing. Listen to a Cary 303-200 or 300 while you are at it. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Mcintosh is good stuff for the pre's and Amps, you can do better sound and for a far better price in digital however... Just my Opinion.

Definatly audition one though, never know the full on mac magic system could be the key.
I own the McIntosh MCD205 CD Changer with the McIntosh MA6900 Integrated amp connected to Sonus Faber Grand Piano Domus speakers. This is an excellent sounding combination and many of my friends agree. I suggest you borrow the McIntosh MCD205 (or the MCD201) and listen. This is the only way you can decide.
