New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

THE NEW TWEAK

Over the good part of this past year I’ve been beta testing a new tweak, the name of which is "Total Contact." Its a hi-bred graphene contact enhancer that is different from all other contact enhancers that have come and gone for one reason or another. I’m not new to these contact enhancers, having had quite a bit of experience with a product developed by the late Brian Kyle and his "Quick Silver" contact enhancer. The "Total Contact" is different ... a LOT different.

"Total Contact" is graphene based and is not a vibration control. It eliminates micro-arching between two contacts. Micro-arching, much like Micro-vibration smears the sound in our stereo systems. Its the type of distortion that we don’t know is there .... until we eliminate it. There is no break-in as we know it. The sound is improved right off the bat, but what you hear is only a smidgen of what’s to come.

I tested three generations of "TC," each of which was an improvement over the previous incarnation. The final mix was cryogenitically treated and made for a more effective, much smoother application. It comes in a large hypodermic needle type plunger containing 1.5 ml of product and includes a instructional DVD and an application brush.

The application should be applied with a very thin coat to all of your electrical connections .... from your cartridge pins to your power cords. I did my entire system, including the ends of my fuses.

Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!

There are two real break-through events that happen almost to the day with "Total Contact," one at four weeks and another at eight weeks . At four weeks, you’ll get a real jump in clarity and overall improvement. That’s only a taste though of what’s to come at eight weeks. At eight weeks your system’s focus will make a jump in SQ that is so real - its surreal.

After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing. The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."

The only problem I had was with the first batch and that had to do with shorting out a tube pin in the line stage. Use the "TC" very sparingly on tube pins, if at all. I only had problems with the line stage tube pins. The Amp, CD Player and Phono Stage has had no tube pin problems at all.

Tim Mrock, one of our fellow A’goners, is the developer of the product. Its taken Tim 15 years and several patents to get it right. Tim has "pasted" every electrical contact he can find in his audio system, all of the switches in his circuit breaker box, every contact in his car ... and has used it in commercial applications such as hospital circuit breakers, surgical lights ... and other places where efficiency and long life of electrical components are deemed important.

This product is highly recommended to anyone who truly wants to get the most out of his/her audio systems. There’s enough product in each tube to do at least two audio systems as it just takes a very thin coat on each application to be effective. The last tube was enough to do my system twice and then a friend’s system this past weekend.

Frank

PS: There were a couple of other A’goner beta testers of this product as well. Hopefully, they will chime in here with their experiences for comparison. I "pasted" both of Steve Fleschler’s systems a few days ago, perhaps he will comment on his results too. We forgot to paste Steve’s power cords though, so there’s a lot more to be had from Steve’s two fantastic systems.

Thanks for the support, guys. Sorry if I overreacted.

For those of us who know what a great product Tim Mrock has brought to market with TC, its an insult for someone to demean the product without trying it out for himself. It was the attitude toward another member that really took the cake. No excuse for it at all.

  • "Stop wasting $$$ over and over again on “Shipping & Lost Value” Put a real plan together and follow through."

^^^ I agree, there’s nothing wrong with that statement other than his assumption that we are "wasting $$$." Again, how would he know? He hasn’t tried the product, hasn’t seen the product ... and in general hasn’t a clue of what he speaks.

I will continue to support the use of TC on all connections ... AND THEN SOME. It has brought my system to a level I could only dream about. It works on the most modest equipment and the most expensive as well.

I'll make a prediction right here ... Total Contact will become a major player in the hobby within the next year. As soon as an honest, objective reviewer gets his hands on the product, every naysayer will be put in his place, and even they will be clamoring for the product. Its that good..

Onward and upward ...

Frank

david_ten ...

Sure ... I'd be open to Nkonor coming back into the thread sans insults to rephrase what he meant ... other than insulting other members and demeaning a great product. I don't think I  misread the guy. If so, I'm prepared to apologize to him.  Fact is, he has no clue what he's missing by shunning TC or SR Blue fuses.

I just cannot fathom why someone would knock a product ... any product without trying it out first hand. Two reasons I can think of are:

1.  A competitor who is in fear of losing sales to the new product.
2.  Just an idiot trying to stir the pot.

There's most likely other reasons, but I can't think of any,

Frank
Tommylion ...

Remove the wall plate from your receptacle that your equipment plugs into and paste the outside of the receptacle, the screws and the wire ends and see (hear) what happens. Don't forget to re-paste the PC spades if necessary.  :>)

Frank
david_ten ...

Sorry, I have no Bybee products in the system.

The iQSE has good reviews. I would think that TC and the iQSE would be of value when used together. Try TC on the internal connections in your electronics. Also, try pasting your receptacle as I suggested to Tommylion above. It lowered the noise floor for me for sure.

Frank
With the improved clarity in the system since getting involved with TC, I've been listening to a lot of vocals. I was listening to Keven Mahogany two nights ago. Here's a big, bold baritone voice that will hold your attention.

Ear candy! If you like really good jazz ballads, this is highly recommended.

I painted the very top of my tin foil hat. My eyesight improved dramatically.

I may be mistaken, but I believe it was you in a much earlier post who claimed that you pasted your sphincter with TC with amazing results. If I remember correctly, I had asked you what you found the benefits of a tighter sphincter to be. To date, you haven’t answered the question. How come???

Frank
^^^ jafreeman ...

Percussion is amazing on my system also. On good recordings, the realism is uncanny at times.

Have you noticed that your system seems "seamless" like your crossovers don't exist now that you've applied the TC?

By the way ... you haven't heard anything yet. There's that four week ...and especially the eight week breakthroughs yet to come. :-)

Frank
jafreeman & dgarretson ...

Have you guys pasted your receptacles yet? Also the connecting wires and screws at the plug (turn electricity off for this one). Also, try pasting the inside of your wall plate before you reinstall it.

I have a dual wall switch. One controls the porch light and the other controls the audio system. I pasted the receptacles and the inside of the face plate resulting in a  noticeable improvement ... a further lowering of the noise floor.

Frank
I still have plenty of places to paste with TC. I think I'll do the power conditioner next:

A dedicated line is on the bucket list. I think I’ll have it done when I have an electrician install a new and upgraded circuit breaker panel.

David_ten ...

I haven’t done much with my computer system other than the connections on the Audio-engine speakers, the Dragonfly DAC and the headphone jacks. I think I’ll try the modem sometime this week. Thanks ...

Frank
Odd. Pasting the ends of the SR Blue fuses with TC gave me a further improvement in overall clarity.

Frank
^^^ I've been experimenting.

My TV (73" rear projection Mitsubishi) has taken on a new life ... its amazing. Color saturation, blacks and overall clarity is much improved. Resembles an LCD without the digital cartoonish look that I can't stand.

Huge increase in the PC desktop system too. Just a pair of Audioengine A2+ speakers and then for headphones a pair of Grado RS1's plugged into an Audioengine DAC.

The main system has been down for a couple of weeks while I wait for a part from ARC. Transformer that feeds the power tube started buzzing, then nothing. New transformer to be delivered this coming Thursday, then off to the tech for installation. Boo.

TC is an amazing product that we are only scratching the surface with. More to come when Tim gives the word. :-)

Frank
littlecx ...

If you don't disturb the connections there is no reason to reapply. And actually, it does dry as part of the curing process. That's a good thing.

Frank
littlecx ...

Congratulations, you’re in for a real treat. You can use a small pointed item like a toothpick to apply the TC in tight areas. The brush supplied with the kit is quite small and it fits in tight spaces as well. Be sure to use a strong light to check if the connections are completely pasted. You don’t want any shiny parts left. :-)

T_Ramey & Tommylion ...

I installed a new modem and cables for my PC the other day. This morning I applied what I had left of TC to all of the connections, the router and modem. Can’t say if the Internet is faster, but the sound quality of my little PC audio system is much improved ... and it was already quite good. Speakers (Audioengine A2+ ) completely disappear now. All around quite enjoyable while the main system awaits the new transformer for the ARC line stage. Delivery of the new transformer is scheduled for tomorrow, then its off to the tech for installation.

Music recommendations ...

Over time, I've been collecting a series of "Jazz For" CD's. They are compilations of jazz and vocal artists. Mostly ballads ... and exceptionally well recorded. Just the ticket for early morning listening with that cup of coffee (hopefully you are home roasting), or while enjoying that adult beverage in the evening with your honey. Here's some examples. Highly recommended:

Start with all of your fuse ends and holders. Then do the power cord connections and the IC connections, not forgetting the grounds on the female end where the IC's connect to the amp.. Then do the wall plug on your PC. Paste the wall receptacle's outer body and the connecting wires where they screw into the receptacle's body. Turn your power off for this one. You should notice quite an improvement from these changes. There's more .... but that can come later. Please post your results ...

Frank
littlecx ...

  • regarding speaker cables, for spades, i should paste the whole spade or just the side touching the amp connection? for banana, my ones are hollow, should i paste the inner side as well?

Paste the whole spade ... and also paste the entire connections at the speaker end. For bananas, paste the male end and insert. :-)

Frank

You’re welcome Allan ...

I finally got the main system up and running yesterday. I was listening to a few of those recordings this morning with my Guatemala home roast. They’re just the ticket while waiting for that first cup of coffee to kick in.

Frank

PS: Guys ... this Total Contact is WAY more than what meets the eye. The system is unbelievable. Stay tuned ...
  • For toroidal transformers mu metal would be a tad less expensive and more effective, no? What is it that you think would be achieved by painting the transformer?

1. No. I've tried both. TC blows away Mu Metal.
2. Better sound quality.

  • I am interested in trying this product but am reluctant without some guarantee. Also wondering why such a cost difference between Mad Scientist product which does offer guarantee?

1.  Read through this entire thread, but especially those posts where members have stepped forward, taken the chance, bought the product, and then reported their results here. Nothing but raves. There's your guarantee.

2.  Is a Ferrari more expensive than a Camry?

  • I think there may be a market opening up for a very small paint roller and tray for use when applying the TC.

Nostradamus visits the thread. :-)

Frank

  • Frank, then maybe you should do both, no? You don’t think they operate by the same principle do you? I know, you don’t really care how they work. Besides I reckon you tried mu metal before your system was so revealing, correct?

You’re right, Geoff ... I don’t care how they work ... only that they do. I did try the Mu Metal before the TC and the fuse upgrades. However, I tried the Mu Metal after all of these changes as well. I tried it around the transformers ... and not much, if anything at all. I DO know though, that you can overdo the Mu Metal. Too much and it dulls the sound.

I’ve gone through the entire SR fuse line; the Reds, the Blacks and now the Blues. As good as they are, the TC is the going-away champ. Nothing else like it that I know of.

I’m aware that some here think that I’ve really over hyped the TC product, but the feedback I’m getting from some who have taken the leap is that I have understated what TC does. And ... we are only beginning to scratch the surface with this product. I personally believe that Tim Mrock has developed a product that will transform the audio and video hobby. I’ve told him so as well.

If everything works out, there will be two A’gon members coming over this week to hear the system. One (Bob) has been here several times and will be a good gauge on the latest TC applications. The second member has never heard the system, so he will be hearing it for the first time with all of the applications (so far) done. Hopefully, they will give some feedback here. I’m looking forward to having them over. The system is really cooking.

Frank
Geoff ...

Be assured that the Mu Metal I used was the real McCoy. And contrary to what you've said, excess use did dull the sound. It was an improvement as far as lowering the noise floor to a certain degree, but  not even close to what TC does in this area. I remember distinctly that when applying the Mu Metal, one more additional little piece degraded the sound and we had to back off.  I was introduced to Mu Metal by David Magnan who used to experiment with my system with his many mods, filters and cables. It was David Magnan that provided the Mu Metal.

stoplitz ...

Even life itself has no guarantees. Here's a proposal, try the product. If you find it non-effective in your system, be totally honest and come back here and post a negative review.

Nice pic of the cyclist ... is that you? I used to be an avid cyclist as well. What guarantee was given you about the brakes on your bicycle? I never received a guarantee from Campagnolo that my brakes would never fade, would work 100% of the time, that my seat post, chain ring or derailer would never break or malfunction.

Sometimes we just have to take things on faith.

Frank
stoplitz ...

A bit off topic, but I love bicycles. Can’t ride anymore due to health issues. My eldest daughter is a chip off the old block though. She’s a fantastic athlete. She and her husband rode a section of the Pyrenees that followed a section of the Tour de France last year. It was one of her bucket lists.

My last bike was custom made in Leeds by Bob Jackson. This was before the advent of carbon fiber in frame building. Mine was made from Reynolds 753 tubing. 21 pounds, ready to go with water bottle, pump and a spare tire and change. :-) It was a wonderful criterion bike and kind of beat me up on century’s and double century’s ... but man, talk about quick handling. It was like riding a Ferrari on downhill switchback roads. The Bob Jackson replaced a totaled out Schwinn Paramount that was destroyed one early morning when I got hit by a car. It was all "ground sky, ground sky" ...  a cracked helmet, a messed up leg and a broken shoulder. Ouch!

Frank
geoff ...

Magnan’s name was mentioned in an effort to give you some perspective and assurance that the experiments weren’t "fly-by-night."

I fully understand how to apply Mu Metal. Nothing was touching the transformers during our experiments. It worked as far as we used it ... but as you know, there are more than one transformer in an audio system. One piece too many and the sound was degraded. I heard it and Dave did too. I found the same thing to be true of Magnan’s special filters that I have hanging out of my power conditioner. One too many was one too many. :-)

Frank

Dave Magnan was one of the most brilliant men I have ever met. He held a PHD in electrical engineering and prior to his retirement, he worked for the Navy as a civilian at our local Navy base. He was the chief engineer who worked out the computer bugs on the firing mechanisms (the weapons) on the F-16s. He had a pair of stacked Quads and custom mono tube amps that he built himself. He was totally into transparency ... and it was truly something else. Not that great musically IMO, but his system was like an open window to the outdoors. He was quite the landscape artist too. He had his oils hung all around the house. Very talented man.

If TC could reverse the aging cycle, I’d be drunk on it. *lol*

Today’s bicycles are amazing ... so much has advanced technologically since I was into it. I wish I had never sold my bike. Even though I wouldn’t be riding it, I’d hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Dang ... it was beautiful.

Is Phil Woods still making sealed bearing hubs? I had a pair that I used over the years on three different bikes and never repacked or had one problem. They rolled so smooth. You might look for a pair on the used market.

Whoops, I just answered my own question:

Mribob ..

Thanks for coming over, Bob. As usual, I enjoyed your company.

" Mos" and Robert stayed until 10:30 pm and we continued the listening session and then watched a little TV while we ate the Cheeseburgers I made.

The noise floor is really low as you heard. We tried an experiment after you left. Mos brought his custom mat from his Well Tempered turntable to try. We could clearly hear a degradation in the sound with the mat. Here's the interesting thing, we also found that the analog sounds better ... more extended highs and a more open presentation without the clamp. I've been listening with this clamp for years now and never knew the difference. These are things that were hidden before the latest TC pasting. I'll demonstrate it for you the next time you're over.

Frank

Stop sweating the small stuff.

This is my thread and not Tim Mrock's thread. I'm not being paid a red cent for my input here. I'm just an audio enthusiast who has found what he believes to be a product that will transform the audio and video hobby. My goal is to share the experience with other enthusiasts like myself ... and possibly you. If Tim Mrock becomes a multi-bizzionaire because of this thread ... well, he deserves it. My suggestion is that you try the product and then go from there with your opinions.

Take care ...

Frank
AMG ...

Yep, Tim has contributed to this thread. Its a new product and its uses need some clarification at times ... therefore, Tim has to give his input.

  • As TM’s front man you have done nothing but denigrate naysayers

Thanks for reading completely though the 36 pages. Did you miss the fact that the only times I’ve taken issue with the "naysayers" was in retribution for those few who use bullying tactics and/or personal attacks, or did that get by you?

Question: Ad or no ad ... why does it get your nose out of joint? If it upsets you, or makes you uncomfortable  in any way, I’m sorry .... but as you’re aware, there are other threads and other forums available to you. Perhaps you’d be more comfortable spending your time there instead of here.

Take care ....

Frank
Shadorn sez:

  • The claims are totally outrageous and ridiculous.

Oh, so you've finally used the product? Of course you have, how else could you come up with that opinion? What devise or type of meter did you use for your measurements in order to come to that conclusion?

Frank
AMG ...

Sorry your nose is bent.

What you think of as "deceit," I, and others, see this thread as a sort of social club for those who are TC enthusiasts. Its kind of like a local pub where like-minded folks meet.

Every once in awhile, a drunk staggers in from the pub down the street and starts raising hell here. As they start to act up, or vomit on the floor, we just toss them out on their ear. Unfortunately, some don’t get the message and need further tossing.

You’re sort of a newcomer who staggered into the pub, and right away, you start telling the regulars and the barkeep how you don’t like the barmaid. Well, as I said, there are other pubs down the street with different barkeeps and different barmaids that you might find more to your liking. Go there if you’ll feel more comfortable.

Obviously, in reading the entire 36 page thread, you’ve missed all of the discussions in this thread that have nothing to do with TC. Various music recommendations, for example.

In the meantime guys ... If you like the Hammond B-3, here’s an excellent recording. Great playing. Especially good is the presence of the drum set  ... its among the best in my collection.

Thanks for stopping by the pub.

As long as you don’t start raising hell in the pub and try to burn it down like a few arsonists have in the past, you are welcome here. And no ... I am not a moderator, only the person who started the thread, and one who wants to keep it on track without personal attacks or attempts to destroy a fellow businessman who is trying to introduce a new product. For clarity, I humbly suggest that you start on page one and read the thread in its entirety with an open mind. Hopefully, you’ll gain some insight into what I’m talking about.

Frank.

Brian was a friend of mine as well ... and you are spot on in your assessment of him. Brian and I had a blast one year at CES trying to get some of the rooms to use a little of his X-treme. We were successful in only one display, that of a major manufacturer ... and it made a significant improvement.

Frank
Over time, I’ve started numerous threads here on A’gon regarding products that I find beneficial to my audio system. Here’s a few:

Audio Research ... Ref 75 se.
Herbie’s ... tube dampeners.
SR ... HFT’s
SR ... Level III power cords.
SR ... Red, Black & Blue fuses.
Originlive ... Custom turntable belt.
Audio Technica ... OC9-Mk III & ART-9.
VonGaylord ... Speaker cables and interconnect cables.

In about half of these threads, I’ve been attacked, demeaned, called a "shill," a "paid employee," and on and on ...

Nothing wrong with legitimate, constructive criticism of course, but that’s not what I’m talking about.

Its the same sick individuals over and over who take delight in destroying anything that appears positive.

When an individual says that a product is a "scam," or "bunk," without ever trying it, well ... there is a hidden agenda of some type in the works. These are the ones I refer to as destroyers and arsonists.

I believe these are the same types who take delight in keying a brand new car in a parking lot .... just out of pure jealousy, envy and hate. Its a sickness that contributes to the breakdown of our civil society.

Since when is the businessman to be demeaned? Since when is it okay to make an attempt to drive an entrepreneur out of business for entertainment? There’s about four or five individuals who lurk on these threads and look for opportunities to be total jerks. I’ll call them out every time.

Frank

  • "... with some fans touting the product excessively."

What seems excessive to one, doesn’t necessarily seem excessive to others.

Could "excessive touting" be nothing more than enthusiasm for a product?

Frank
Damn! Who opened the gate?? *lol*

AMG ...

I think you complain too much. You are not a victim here. No one is telling you to leave the thread. Whats happening here is, you seem to be uncomfortable with the tone of this thread for what ever reason. It was suggested that if you're too uncomfortable, then perhaps you'd find the thread down the street to be more suitable and more tuned to your liking. Big difference between insisting that you leave the thread, and handing you a choice, no?

Its all good, so relax and enjoy the conversation at the bar.

And speaking of the bar, my friend Robert came over for a listening session tonight. In tow, was a bottle Tequila that was to die for. He found it at an estate sale today and it had been sitting in someone's bar for over 30 years. Two bucks for a bottle of some of the very best Tequila I've ever had.

The system was exemplary tonight. :-)

 Geoff ...

Sorry man. Sometimes you're a bit hard to follow.

Who's Judge Judy??

Who's John Galt??

Frank
I’m laughing so hard my cheeks hurt.

Yep, as a beta tester, I got a free sample. But ... there was  no contract involved where I had to agree to give a positive review. In fact, if I had found TC to be degrading to the sound of my system, instead of being transformative as it was, I would have most likely never started this thread in the first place.

Frank
Geoff sez:

  • Pop Quiz - Now see if you can figure out why you in particular were selected.

I would like to think it was because Tim Mrock trusted me, based upon other threads that I’ve participated in, to give an honest evaluation of his product. No more, no less.

Pop quiz: Was there a reason why you were not chosen, Geoff?

Frank
In the  meantime, those who have taken the leap, and are now using Total Contact, constitute some of the happiest audiophiles on the planet. That would include me. As far as the other users, just read their reviews in this thread.

For those who haven't taken the leap ... you should ASAP.

For those who continually knock a product that you haven't seen or used ... you continue to look silly.

Carry on ...
