New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

THE NEW TWEAK

Over the good part of this past year I’ve been beta testing a new tweak, the name of which is "Total Contact." Its a hi-bred graphene contact enhancer that is different from all other contact enhancers that have come and gone for one reason or another. I’m not new to these contact enhancers, having had quite a bit of experience with a product developed by the late Brian Kyle and his "Quick Silver" contact enhancer. The "Total Contact" is different ... a LOT different.

"Total Contact" is graphene based and is not a vibration control. It eliminates micro-arching between two contacts. Micro-arching, much like Micro-vibration smears the sound in our stereo systems. Its the type of distortion that we don’t know is there .... until we eliminate it. There is no break-in as we know it. The sound is improved right off the bat, but what you hear is only a smidgen of what’s to come.

I tested three generations of "TC," each of which was an improvement over the previous incarnation. The final mix was cryogenitically treated and made for a more effective, much smoother application. It comes in a large hypodermic needle type plunger containing 1.5 ml of product and includes a instructional DVD and an application brush.

The application should be applied with a very thin coat to all of your electrical connections .... from your cartridge pins to your power cords. I did my entire system, including the ends of my fuses.

Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!

There are two real break-through events that happen almost to the day with "Total Contact," one at four weeks and another at eight weeks . At four weeks, you’ll get a real jump in clarity and overall improvement. That’s only a taste though of what’s to come at eight weeks. At eight weeks your system’s focus will make a jump in SQ that is so real - its surreal.

After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing. The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."

The only problem I had was with the first batch and that had to do with shorting out a tube pin in the line stage. Use the "TC" very sparingly on tube pins, if at all. I only had problems with the line stage tube pins. The Amp, CD Player and Phono Stage has had no tube pin problems at all.

Tim Mrock, one of our fellow A’goners, is the developer of the product. Its taken Tim 15 years and several patents to get it right. Tim has "pasted" every electrical contact he can find in his audio system, all of the switches in his circuit breaker box, every contact in his car ... and has used it in commercial applications such as hospital circuit breakers, surgical lights ... and other places where efficiency and long life of electrical components are deemed important.

This product is highly recommended to anyone who truly wants to get the most out of his/her audio systems. There’s enough product in each tube to do at least two audio systems as it just takes a very thin coat on each application to be effective. The last tube was enough to do my system twice and then a friend’s system this past weekend.

Frank

PS: There were a couple of other A’goner beta testers of this product as well. Hopefully, they will chime in here with their experiences for comparison. I "pasted" both of Steve Fleschler’s systems a few days ago, perhaps he will comment on his results too. We forgot to paste Steve’s power cords though, so there’s a lot more to be had from Steve’s two fantastic systems.

^^^ Tuffy ...

Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.

Its been a long time since I used a Quicksilver product. It was an initial improvement for sure. I found that it deteriorated over time. Now, with that said, you and I may not have used the same product. Was the Quick Silver GOLD an upgrade from Quicksilver?

The Total Contact is in a league by itself in my opinion.

For those asking questions, I’d suggest they read this thread from the beginning. Most questions have been answered already. A case in point is the fifth paragraph in the opening salvo where I addressed the initial application’s improvement of the SQ.

" Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!"

Brian was a nice guy. As I shared in a previous post, Brian and I hooked up at the CES in Vegas one year and went room to room trying to talk the vendors into using Brian's product in their demo.

Frank
^^^ How did it work out? Same experience as you Geoff. Except we did get one high end manufacturer to try it on his IC’s and speaker wire. The improvement was obvious and immediate. In the meantime, Brian and I had a lot of fun.

How many "real" audiophiles are there? When the international market is taken into consideration, there’s plenty. I had one manufacturer of high end electronics tell me one time that his best customers were in Brazil.

It was agreed upon early in this thread that politics would stay out of the discussion. Did you two miss it ... or have you simply neglected to read the thread from the beginning?

So randy ... what "simple questions" haven't been answered at this point? Name them.

Here's an excerpt so that you guys won't have to look it up:

"Anything political seems to be off limits here .... and for good reason. I absolutely love politics. In addition to music, literature (especially political history), my children, grandchildren and yes, my great grandchildren, politics is my driving force.

With that said, I don’t mind sharing with you guys that I used to belong to another site (not audiophile related) that had a politics section. I was a moderator on that forum. I thought it was great fun at first, but it soon denigrated into friends becoming enemies. In today’s political climate, it would be a lot worse. Therefore, as much as I would love to debate politics with some of you, I support the mods on this forum to keep the politics out. I think we should all respect that."

deeperthought & Dave & Troy ...

I've been asking these guys to state their intentions from day one, both in this thread and in both of the SR fuse threads. They won't do it, because they won't dare claim it. I can guess what their intentions are because I've seen it many times before. Even if they don't realize it, they are making an attempt to destroy a terrific new product and a brilliant American businessman. As I said in an earlier post, entire societies have been brought to their knees by the closed minded thinking being exhibited by these fools.

audiotroy ...

Even if they formed a collective and reduced the price per individual to $50, they still wouldn't buy the product. Their goal isn't to find out if, or how, the product works. Their goal is to destroy and burn the house down. Well, it won't happen. Just like with Ted Denney's Black and Blue fuses, the Total Contact is just way too good of a product to fail. Word of mouth will be enough to get the product going down the pathway to success. The naysayers will be left blubbering .... "But, but ... what happened?" They won't have a clue as to why they failed. One thing for sure, once they fail here, they will be looking for new buildings to burn and fresh entrepreneurs to stab in the back. Little men with stinking thinking tend to remain little men with stinking thinking ...

1. I’ll wait for Tim Mrock to step in to explain micro arcing.

2. This has been covered several times during this thread. Again, I respectfully suggest that you read the thread from page one, to here.

On initial application, there is a definite improvement in SQ, so it will be enjoyed at that time. At the four week period, there is an increase in clarity. At the eight week juncture there is a HUGE jump in clarity ... a see-through quality that really has to be heard to be believed. I’ve heard nothing like it in over 40 years in the hobby.

The more connections you paste, the better it gets. Tim tells me that he has pasted over 1000 connections in his system, home and in his car. One of the big improvements is treating your circuit breakers, which I have not done yet. I’ll hire an electrician for the job. I’ll upgrade the circuit box at that time also.

3. You can see my electronics and room by double clicking on my icon, then double clicking on the picture. All ARC Reference: Ref-3, Ref-75se, PH-8, CD-7se ... all tubes. Von Gaylord "Legend" IC’s, SR level III power cords, and Von Gaylord "Legend" speaker cables - bi-wired. Legacy Signature III speakers. Well Tempered TT highly modified. Origin Live TT belt, Cardas copper tonearm wire and an Audio Tecnica ART-9 cartridge. Room is well treated with Shatki Holograms (4), SR HFT’s (10), Four Tube Traps. Micro-vibrations have been carefully attended to with platforms, custom equipment rack ... and all of the usual suspects.

While by some standards, what I have is a modest system. With all of the tweaks I’ve experimented with over the years, the system has become highly resolving. I can hear if a tweak is worthwhile or not almost immediately. Read my comments re: Herbie’s tube dampeners (excellent), and then conversely, Hebie’s Black Hole CD mat (ineffective in my system).

Try to read the entire thread ... most of your questions will be answered there.

Frank
dbager ...

If you continually swap your wires around, you will eventually wear the paste off. You WILL get an initial improvement in SQ with the fresh pasting, but the best would happen if you would be able to just let it cure over the 4 and 8 week period. So to answer your question ... yes, it would still be worthwhile for you to use TC in order to get the initial SQ improvement. In fact, I'd venture to say that once you've heard your system freshly pasted, you won't want to listen without it. I know I certainly won't go back.

Read all of Steve Fleschler’s posts. All of his results reported here so far are the results of a freshly pasted system.

Frank

Just a slight delay. Stay tuned.

Your scorpion story ... political. :-)

Frank
^^^ Its not a matter of winning or losing. I would explain what I mean ... but I don't think the mods would like it. So ... we'll have to let this one go.

Frank
Good news!

I just got off of the phone with Tim Mrock. The delay was with one of the suppliers being late in delivery. Tim will be up all night tonight preparing the packaging for a launch tomorrow. So ... by the time tomorrow morning comes the product will be available through Audiogon. That’s the plan. Let’s hope there’s no more snafus.

Frank

Yes, a joke about Republicans (or Democrats) is political and has no place in this thread or anywhere else in the entire forum.

The first supplier of the "containers" that will hold the product sent  defective containers. A new supplier had to be found. The new ones were supposed to arrive Saturday. They didn't show up in the mail (25 below zero with wind chill). That left Sunday (no mail delivery) and yesterday, a national holiday (no mail delivery). The containers arrived today in the mail. Tim will spend the day, and all night tonight, filling the containers so the product can be offered for sale here on Audiogon tomorrow morning. Simple as that.

Geoff sez:

"Besides, did someone die and make you moderator?"

Nope. Just trying to keep things civil in this one thread. That's about it.

Besides Geoff, most folks who want to debate politics have a political acumen about as deep as the vinyl flooring in my kitchen. Any political discussions would quickly sink to a low of name calling.

Don't know about you Geoff, but I'm here to have fun and to improve my audio system, not to make enemies.

And speaking of movies, I’d like to share one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Its titled "The Lives of Other’s."  Its in German with very easy to read English subtitles.

Tim told me that he has your order. Your's is the first one. More than likely, it will be in the mail today ... tomorrow at the latest. They are expecting two feet of snow, but Tim is only one block away from the post office. I know you'll be surprised at how good it is. Please post your results here. Thanks ...

I just ordered "Pan's Labyrinth" from Ebay in HD-BluRay for $7.15 with free shipping. The reviews are all very positive.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Frank
^^^ dbarger ...

Tim gives it six months ... but if you keep it in the freezer it will last longer. If you vacuum seal it and then keep it in the freezer it would be the best preservation method. This according to Tim Mrock the producer of the product.

I still have the two original tubes that have product in them. I've just had them sitting on a shelf in the listening room. One has been there almost a year and its still fine.

Frank
^^^ Thanks again gpgr4blu .... looking forward to getting the film.

Like you, I’ve shown The Lives of Others" many times to friends and recommended it to anyone who will listen. Its an important film in view of today’s political climate in our own country where the NSA has the unconstitutional bureaucratic power to "ease drop" on every American citizen’s phone calls.

George Orwell was right ... he just had the year wrong.

Take care ...

Cleeds ...

Stay tuned. The product is being shipped, and when received and applied, the positive reports will be coming in.

I would like to ask the " measurementalists" how sound stage depth, height and width can be measured with a scope. How does one go about measuring correct tonal balance and emotional impact with lab instruments? Perhaps Mr. Wolf could chime in here.

In the meantime, those of us who are using Total Contact are enjoying our stereo and video systems like never before.

By the way Cleeds ...good post on your part.

Frank
^^^ Slaw ...

You're getting 1.5ml ... enough to do a large system plus video. Save the rest or share with a friend.

What "concerns" would you like to alleviate?

Frank
Hifiman ...

Total Contact isn’t a "contact cleaner" like ProGold or Deoxit. This stuff is in a league all its own. I know its easy to mistake enthusiasm for hype, but in this case, I’ve been experimenting with the product for a year now. The results are pretty amazing. See Steve Fleschler’s very accurate posts.

Hope to have you on board soon. :-)

Frank
nkonor ...

I appreciate healthy skepticism, and your’s is certainly that. What I don’t appreciate are those few on the site who would destroy a product prior to its release without experiencing it. My God ... do they realize that there is a human being (Tim Mrock) on the other end of this thing? Is it their goal to dash the dreams and hopes of other people? All I can figure is that they have a screw loose somewhere behind a brain cell or two. Why else would they demean a product while having zero knowledge of what it does exactly??

And by the way, just so no one misunderstands, Total Contact is easily removed at any time, even with a complete cure, with a bit of alcohol and a Q-tip or other cotton swab.

Frank

PS: I have a magnet on my refrigerator that sez: "Real Men Love Cats." :-)
^^^ Yeah George, but what do you do when you have several people constantly crapping in your honey??

Frank
A note to the videophiles ...

Use Constant Contact on your TV/video systems. I'm getting a brighter picture and blacker blacks with more detail on my 73" Mitsubishi rear projection TV. I pasted the DVD player's IC's, the power cord, the lamp and the satellite box connections. Nice overall improvement.

Frank
^^^ Excellent Steve .. and thank you very much. Those who take pleasure in destroying others do not belong here. Simple as that.

Frank
^^^ Congrats, Tim ..

You are in for a great audio ride. I can hardly wait for your input once your entire system is pasted and you cross over into the four and eight week time frame. Zowie!

Frank
^^^ Thank you, sgordon1

Please report back and let us know what you experience at the 4 & 8 week periods.

Frank
gpgr4blu ...

You'll have it soon. Tim is trying to mail out the same day he receives the order. He's only a block away from the post office.

The spade connections are a good place to start .... audible improvement too. The more connections you paste with TC the more improvement will be realized. I did my entire system all at once, but it would be interesting to hear your progress as each portion is pasted. Like spade connectors first, then evaluate. IC's next, then evaluate. PC's after that, then evaluate. Fuse ends, then evaluate. Etc, etc, etc ...

Please post your results here. Thanks ...

Frank

PS: I was up until 2am this morning listening to my stereo system. Steve Fleschler tells me he's doing the same. Steve has hit the four-week point with about half of his treatment. The other half is freshly applied. Hard to pull yourself away from the music once that four-week point is reached.
Side note:

For those with headphone systems ... TC can be used on the headphone plugs to good effect. I’ve done my headphones (Grado RS-1’s) , the little Audio Engine DAC, the connection to the computer screen and the computer’s PC.

Spotify sounds really good. Picture quality is improved also. Russian car crashes have more impact. :-)

Frank
1.  Over the years I've used Deoxit to clean connectors, and then coated them with Pro Gold. Not relevant at all. Total Contact is in a different league and serves a different purpose.

2.  Tweak? I think that product has pretty well been debunked in this thread.

3.  Unplugged and re-plugged? Nope ... apples and oranges.

4. Over the years I've tried varied contact enhancers. None have come close to what TC does for SQ.

The product is being delivered. The member reviews will be forthcoming. We shall see what we shall see.

Frank
^^^ Does Tweak, or pulling the contacts in and out do anything to eliminate micro arcing in the connections? I don't think so, but perhaps the few "scientists" contributing to the thread can chime in here.

Also, good after market fuses can be tested by ear. Honestly, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone with a  high resolution audio system can't hear the improvements made by these two "tweaks," the SR Blue fuses and Tim Mrock's "Constant Contact." They have brought my audio system to an entirely new level of resolution.

Again, I don't need to understand "why," they just "do."

Frank
I'm listening to Rachmaninoff's 3nd symphony  ... Oh my, what a composer!

Frank
^^^ Thank you Joe. Good advice to all.

The product is easily removed at any stage with alcohol and a cotton swab or a Q-tip.

I was listening to a few of my lesser played Harmonia Mundi recordings early this morning. I've really never been able to get into the Madrigals ... but this morning, the voices were so distinct and pleasurable. Usually, I find them to be boring. The Total Contact has changed all of that.

When you purchase Total Contact, please post your experiences and results here. Thanks again ...
