Looking to repurpose a late model Intel Core i5 Mac Mini as a headless music and streaming server with app control then try one of the Audioquest USB DACs. Reply if you have experience to share that doesn’t involve many extra mods?
I use a straight-up MacMini (M4) as my server for both Roon and JRiver Media Center; the files are located on a Synology NAS.
No problems with it whatsoever, and I use it right out of the box, as it were. I access the box using Screen Sharing from another Mac on my home network.
