Klipsch Heresy - Recommendations for stands

Hello,

I just bought a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers from the 70s on a whim for my pool room. Got them home and I can't believe how good they sound. I am running them on an old Luxman R-1050 receiver and I'm simply blown away!!!! I don't remember stereos sounding this good in the 70's! Maybe it's because the music was mainly the Bee Gees, Kenny Rodgers, Olivia Newton John, and Barry Manillo on 8 track. God I'm glad those days are behind me!

Anywaay, I have had Dali (still have MS5s), Audio Physic, KEF Reference, Acoustic Zen, etc... and none of them offer the sound for the money that these speakers do. Unfortunately, the drawback for these speakers is their shape. I put them on some nice "normal" steel stands and they look like 2 square balloons floating in space. They sound fantastic but the WAF is very low. Any suggestions on a good looking stands?

Thanks for your help.

Jimmdavis,

Thanks, I like the hanging look. I wonder if it comes in a crouchet weave like my Mother used to hang plants with in the 70s? I think there needs to be beads added with shag carpeting under it. Maybe put shag carteting on the speakers so they look like dice! I'm sure it would help the sound somehow.

Klipschfan,

Nice looking stands! These might do the trick. Have you tried them at all?
I just got a pair of Skylan 18" stands for my Heresey's. Good stands made of composite material and they can be mass loaded. The first thing I notice with the sound is that the Heresey's lost all their bass. The imaging is good but without a sub they sound overly bright. Heresey's tend to be light on low bass anyway and they seem to sound more balanced on the stock slant risers. I may have to put them back on the floor unless anyone has any ideas.
I have my Heresys on the floor (laminate over concrete) with a single 1 1/2" Mod Squad TipToe under the front center edge.
Good bass (as good as Heresys make...) and excellent sound stage.

There are stand options for larger box speakers like Heresys. I saw some at Northern Audio in Pittsburgh. Lots of larger and much heavier speakers have table frame-like stands that are proportionate to the speaker cabinet. Just about every ATC traditional speaker is on a stand as are many larger classic British monitors (Wharfedale Lintons, Harbeths, Spendors) and Devore Orangutans (O/96 anyway.) Heresies can be played and enjoyed more than one way.
