KLH Model Nine, how do I depot the wax cans?

I have a pair of klh 9's and one has lower gain with some distortion in the tweeter as well. On the recommendation of David Janszen I swapped supplies and both problems follow the supply (tweeter distortion and low gain). I had also cleaned all contact assemblies on the power supply connectors and tweeters.

I want to rebuild the weak supply and looking at it I see lots of wax. I was wondering how I would depot the cans (melt out or chip out the wax). If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated

Hi David and Andy_p , this is a bit of an old thread now but I am hoping one or both of you will read my post, I recently melted the was out of the power supply box of one of my KLH 9 power supplies. I am going to proceed now hopefully and service the unit, a bit more cleaning with chemicals I suspect! the question is does any buddy have a copy of the schematic? and if I understand correctly I need 3 1N4007 in series for each diode. and that should be it as far as replaceable parts??????? thanks D
"He also included a pdf with a reprint of the rebuilding procedure from a past magazine article (email if you want a copy)" I need to replace the sel. diodes as well, can you please forward that .pdf of the rebuild. Thanks

Rob

I am working on a pair of supplies with no output at this point, and will check continuity across the secondary power supply windings after speaking with David.  Could you please email a copy of the PDF?

Thanks much - Garrett
