I have an IMac with a 2T 16g SSD, I have 1T of music. I take my music on an external hard disk in NAS with wire. will I be better off putting my music directly into my IMac. will I have better sound quality?

here is my setup. IMac with Roon core, which takes music from a NAS with network file. bridge 2 with network files. the question ... would the sound be better if Roon took the music direct from the internal ssd disc of the IMac. that is the real question. internal disc or nas. excuse my english
OP, generally the results are "expected" and "reported" to be better when using an external storage device (versus the internal one you are considering). The only way to find out is to try the various options within the confines of your own system / setup.
There are advantages to be gained from galvanic isolation and other noise suppression / resonance controls for the external storage device. You lose those options / opportunities by going with your internal ssd - Roon Core iMac (all in one) solution.
Something to consider is to walk away from your iMac as Roon Core and to get a dedicated Roon Core option.
