High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz

In December 2011,I wrote that High Fidelity cables led by cable designer Rick Schultz was putting together a new cable. The cable came to market as CT-1.The CT-1 has FINALLY made it into my system!I had obtained a version of the prototype that Rick had been working on.It blew my previous reference Genesis by Virtual Dynamics.I thought I had finally found my end with this cable. This prototype delivered to my ears "Nirvana".Could I be at the end of my quest for the ultimate sound?
No. I received two pairs of CT-1 to replace my prototypes. They went into the system this past Friday.Unable to dedicate time until Sunday listening,I stole a few moments, ducking away from company with anticipation. My guest could tell even with the music set for"ambiance"something was intriguing and I was in for a treat!
The experience:
First off,CT-1 was very user friendly.Installation was simple;the cable is very nice and light. The female RCA fit beautifully unlike any I had found in other cable. It was secure and reliable. It seemed much thought was dedicated to developing a designer fit to an aesthetically stunning RCA connector.Install entailed a few wiggles to ensure what seemed like a compression fit on my RCA.
It was 2-3 hrs. for the 1st step of break in to be complete. At that point I had something different!Today, although they only have 10-12 hrs. on them,I can`t put into words how much my system has transformed.Believe me,I loved my prototypes.However....there is simply no comparision.
The clarity and sound is so natural.
The soundstage is like nothing I ever heard.Resoulution is breathtaking and inner detail is simply hard to believe possible.
The sound has transended and now it simply does not seem as thought I have speakers.
My system is musicians playing music.
I am told with time they will improve and I trust that as it was revealed with the prototypes.I wanted to share my thoughts with you that now.
Unequivocally,a testament to High Fidelity,as the name declares.
High Fidelity Cables for me,the last word on it,after 12 hours!
Truly Amazing

Yes, I got all of my cables back from a treatment and put my system back together. And Yes, it sounds very much improved. I've been thinking of How to describe going from absurd sound to even more absurd. Here are some notes:
Effortlessly flowing realism.
Wonderfully engulfing spatially accurate representations of musical performances.
The performers are solidly in the room.
An uncanny sense of live sound.
Musical reproduction is just the start of this magical room reproduction.
I have heard really great music on many systems, I now am hearing everything in the room where the music was recorded.
As I listen to this system I realize that, although my descriptions are
true, they haven't a chance of describing this experience.
Come over and take a listen.
Cheers D
Thanks Lak!
benjie,"any idea"?.... good question! what I know is that the process is proprietary. I think it is like cable cooking with specially designed and built magnetic power equipment.
I know it includes a number of different processes done over 8 days.
I know that they treat all new cables and cords this way before shipping.
I know it was an idea of Ricks to greatly increase the break in process.
and Ricks description "a 'new magnetically driven amplification process to enhance the power of the magnets and internal connections and to magnetize the internal wire."
I know that someone is writing a review of the process.
My experience over the past 5 years shows me that more magnets makes more music.
I know it made my system sound like a completely new and much more refined system. The magic has gone thru the roof!! Engulfing performances!
Considering where the system was to begin with, this is astonishing!! I expect improvements to continue for a number of weeks.
Highly Recommended ;-) D

Cable treatment is a winner!
Magic - Revelations of a 9 hour listening session yesterday.

Hi ALL

Last night, There was an essence of life I could not have guessed could exist in audio playback.

Shape, texture and 3 dimensionality took on new meaning as every aspect of the sound came to life, like never before!

The sound not only emanated from the instruments but projected out into the recording room. I’m not simply hearing music coming out of a horn, but music from the horn filing the venue.

It sounds like Magic to me. A similar feeling to being impressed by a fantastic magical illusion.

Correction, it IS a fantastic magical illusion.

Enjoy the Music

D

misterbritt, Yes it is best to schedule an appointment for shortest turn around. Yes there is a charge it varies with the number of cables.
At this point I hear it is $40 to $50 per cable plus shipping to the shop.. Time it takes depends on the level of cables as PRO's take a week of processing and the CT-1 is a day or two. My Pro treatment took about 2 weeks from shipping off to getting back. I would expect 2 weeks for any treatment.
Waiting is hard for us.. I hated being without but was rewarded buy a surprising major improvement in all aspects of the sound and image.
Other friends say they hated the wait but are thrilled at the effect also.
misterbritt, High Fidelity on facebook explains how one can plug MC-0.5s downstream. Those of us with dedicated ac lines do not usually have downstream outlets.
MC-0.5's
I have 12 MC-0.5's at the power input to the system.

If one looks closely at Ricks video about new products, in the end where music is playing, one can see 36 of the MC 05's.
24 are plugged together with 12 orange 3way splitters
 6 are in a MC-6 hemisphere
 6 are in a MC 6
I think it is a good idea to audition cables, and everything, if one can -before purchase.
I only recommend the top High Fidelity Cables to people with systems refined enough to hear what they can do.
Reference level system are extremely rare.
From what I am hearing now... I doubt many have an inkling of
what is truly possible. My system 3 year ago was one of the best I'd ever heard. Today, with HFC PRO Cables, There is no comparison to that old system. No description that would enlighten others of the experience. And no way I could have imagined what is being presented to me without hearing it myself.
68pete, Power cube looks like it would works well if one can devise a connection protocol... 4 sided plug in would block second outlet of a duplex outlet.

There is a cube with a short extension cord (or use your own extension cord to a cube) that then can be gang plugged into many cube shaped cubes away from the duplex outlets.

My power in comes into the audio room to a 2 duplex outlet setup.
One outlet plugs in the system, the other 3 outlets are for my 12 MC-0.5's.

Maybe I'll get cubes for second dozen MC-0.5's.

Splitters have a break in time of up to 5 days FYI

Cheers D

Pete, I like to buy 4 MC-0.5's at a time, but... I have many other upgrades going on now and a list of future upgrades I have yet to get to.
I might try more of the RCA adaptors when they become available again.
They made a big improvement on my Pro IC's. Hopefully, they will be available in a month.
Let us know how the cubes work out for you.
Thanks Dave
Spades or Bananas
Has anyone experimented with Spades and Bananas on their High Fidelity Speaker Cables???
2 schools of thought.
1) I've always loved to crank down spades really tightly for max contact.
2) Rick suggested that the bananas' "straight in design" might be better for magnetic flow. (but they fit so loosely...)
I've never used banana plugs for serious audio before.
What have you found??
Thanks lak. I hope to compare the two once I get a replacement for one defective Banana plug.

mister britt, I have both sets of ends, I was using bananas at Ricks suggestion until one banana broke. Now I am using Bananas on the
right amp input and spades on the left until I can get a replacement Banana.
At the speaker end I have Bananas.
Interestingly enough, when my amp is turned to "zero" or max attenuation, I can still hear the spade side but not the banana side.
This might indicate spades are better... or the volume difference may be caused by one of a hundred other things. Time and experimentation will tell.
misterbritt, greetings!
five one two 963 seven zero zero five.
Banana broke in shipping.
I don't have a mag distribution box at this time as I opted for PRO series
cords and cables with the funds I had.
I did discuss HFC power cords and filters on page 18, 3 years ago.
But have never tried the MC-6 or the MC-6 Hemisphere. There should be reviews out there...
I have 12 MC-0.5's at the power input to the room followed by a Pro Power cord to custom distribution boxes. Then a Pro pc to amp.

Will report on the banana vs spades when I get parts, Waiting for customers to return their Bananas to HFC so I can get one.

About running long Reveal power cords. Yes HFC power cord will make a big improvement even with non magnetic distribution. I would have to know more about your system and room to figure out how i would run power cords. It might be better to rewire the room and get shorter cords.
feel free to call me on that one.

Magnetic Power stuff does make a bigger improvement then signal in my system. YMMV.
pete, Wow 28 MC-0.5's! Only Rick uses more. (36)

I have a double duplex outlet setup and I have used one
orange straight 3 to 1 and one green "L" shaped to hold 6 mc-0.5's
and still be able to plug two other plugs in. I plug my system in one of the remaining open outlets and the other one plugs a short cord connected to another duplex outlet that has 2 each 3 to 1 orange 3 sided adaptors that I add another 6 MC 5s. I can easily add another dozen MC0.5's with some combination of the 3 types of 3 way adaptors.
As far as the progression of non-Reveal HFC cables. there have been changes in magnet size, strength and configuration as well as  differences in the wire alloy, and adding magnets in the ends of cables and cords.
I have found that the axiom- "more magnets makes more music", has been true in my research and usage of HFC items. One example is that adding a set of 4 of the original RCA adaptors to My PRO IC's was a big improvement. and adding MC-0.5's before my Pro power cords makes a big improvement.
Mac48025, Hi Mac - sounds like you are having fun with High Fidelity stuff!!
On the MC-0.5s. To me they sounded better at the wall then in any power distribution box. I have a dozen at the wall for one dedicated line
using 3 way splitters. I add 4 at a time and each time I liked the improvement of veils lifted and more life entering.
Thanks for describing you experiences!!
Cheers D
68 pete, Greetings fellow MC-0.5 fanatic. I agree and think I will order 4 more today. They just got more in stock!
Hi Pete.
I got 4 more in today, I live in Texas so they only take one day to arrive.
Now that they have more in stock.
I have 16 now. I'm glad I got more.
I have all 16 at the wall where my system plugs in. It's quite a feat to strain relief all those filters and 3 way splitters.
It is a dedicated 10AWG line with special breakers and connections.
I am using only one line (of 4) right now.
First day going from 12 to 16 MC-0.5s.. I heard myself exclaim Wow! a number of times during the first listening session. I got more than I expected for a first day with new filters and new splitters. Though lacking refinement at first, it was instantly more lifelike. That makes me happy.
The sound improved as the day went on but I have witnessed splitters and filters to taking 100 hours or more to settle so more to come. I'll report next week.
Yes is my recommendation on HFC power cords...
I remember being Shocked to hear how huge an improvement my first magnetic power cord was. It seemed impossible that a single power cord could transform my entire system, lifting it to an entirely other level of performance. It was an Ultimate power cord.
I have upgraded power cords many time and have been thrilled by the improvements every time. I have 2 Pro and 2 URH power cords now.
It is interesting to me how great the MC-0.5s work, even with the top of the line HFC stuff. The RCA magnetic extenders work very well on my Pro interconnect. I hope that they have more of those in stock soon.
I say that the MC-0.5 and RCA adaptors are the biggest bang for the buck of the magnetic stuff. I am extremely happy with all my High Fidelity cords, cables and filters and will not let go of ANY of them except to upgrade. If you hear them you will want them. Cheers D
Hi Mr britt. a very specific question. In my experience, plugging into the wall outlet had a greater effect than into a power filter. I have 2 duplex outlets connected together with the same wire so electrically they are the same point and physically their is about 6 inches of wire between. So 6 inches downstream from where the system is plugged in. I built a short cord to a 3rd duplex outlet which plugs into one of the outlets at the wall.
This to make it easier to plug in 16 MC-0.5s at one spot. 12 inches downstream.
I have heard the MC-0.5s make an improvement in power boxes and even plugged into outlets NOT connected to the system but in the same room. in both cases the effect was less that at the wall  outlet of the system. hope that helps. Cheers D
Pete, Thanks for the heads up on the speaker adaptors on Facebook.
They are not out yet, but they will sell in sets of 4, so adaptors for both ends. Different adaptors for each end so we need to look closely during set up...
FYI Magnetic power cords effect the system differently than signal cords.
Similar in that they both are a huge upgrade in sound. Different in that they effect different areas of the system. The greatest improvement is in having both.

mcondon and todd, IT was the HFC cable that started me spending more on audio.  I grew up with little and saved everything my whole life.
Once I saved enough to buy a second house, and as I approach 70, I decided to try to loosen my grip on money and enjoy what is left of my life. My wild spending has given me the most magical sound I could have never imagined possible, Daily awe and amazement. I like the statement "being fully involved in audio". I did enjoy the DIY stuff for decades. This is a totally different world.
I hope all enjoy their music. D
PS I often answer question privately for those who don't wish to post.
Hi All Here's my report on going from 12 to 16 MC-0.5s at the wall.
After 5 days the improvement is splendid! 3D imaging like I'd never imagine. Everything I play sounds so much more live more involving. Makes me want to play EVERYTHING. I am engulfed in the soundstage.
I started a familiar track and everyone in the room went Wow at the same time... quiet enough to lift more vales, even were no vales were detected. ultimate rich detail with effortless delivery and a "like being there" experience.
Cheers D
t_ramey
You asked what the improvement was like adding many MC-0.5s...
I think 68pete s' description of the improvements was spot on!
It well described the improvements in my system.
I would add that  horns are more natural, more detailed, more suspended in air with space around them, more lifelike, more effortless.

I think 16 is a good number for one circuit, but I still want to hear 20. 24.
Pete has 2 circuits and I wonder if he has 16 on each?

68pete- how are you MC-0.5s configured?
I agree that MC-0.5s are one of the biggest bang for the buck of any audio improvement, so when i have extra money and want more vales lifted for a more live sound, I get more of them.
I also think the RCA adaptors are a great improvement for the money.
I've heard tell that some have doubled the RCA adaptors for even more improvement. RCA added to PRO interconnects made much more music.
Noticeable price difference between Pro IC and RCA adaptors. ;-) D
antiwolfe- I do not see any MC-6s for sale in the world today.
Used ones have sold for about $800 in the past. but it's rare.
Hi Pete, I understand the idea of budgeting and would like to save up to
buy superior equipment. Would only take 4 years, maybe 5 if I stopped buying $1000 worth of little things every month. Maybe I like toys too much. Too old to sell a kidney. 2nd mortgage?
I have a number of friends who have tried the Weezer and moved on.
Guess it is system dependent.
Lak, Some moved to High fidelity.
I build custom power boxes with design help from a friend.
I barely go 3 months without upgrading some portion of the boxes I use.
Seems like there's alway a new box, wire, outlet, inlet, mounting plate or outlet cover. (Damping, shielding and adding weight also) Then it is a matter of finding which combination of parts gives the best sound.( ie. NCF outlet needs a different inlet than R-0)
Parts alone for one box is $2500 and I use two boxes.
It's an interesting process, probably for another thread.
Also... I am getting another PRO IC today to experiment with.
Will report on that later
Ok, the PRO interconnect I got today is to try daisy chaining 2 pro interconnects together. Why on earth would I do that.
Well... it is actually to get an idea of what a PRO 2 or PRO Elite IC might sound like. Pro Elite is my name for the next step up that hasn't been made yet. IF made, I'm sure it will have much more Unobtainium in it.
Pete, Your right! I'll send it to you right away.
Actually My friend Frank has firs dibs on the 2nd Pro that I can't afford.

MM Celyea, I have 16 MC-0.5s in one circuit all at the wall.
I usually get 4 at a time because they are cheaper in sets of four.
Great improvement every time I ad more.
more intimate, involving, real.
I heard a story that one person has 101 of them.
Cheers D
68pete, My friend ended up getting 2 pro interconnects because they are so much better than the UR IC or the URH IC.
I'd love to get another pro IC and another pro pc for myself. Some Day.
I'm interested to know what mag device you would like next?
Or what  HFC stuff anyone thinks of getting next?
Cheers D
I can think of many HFC items I'd like to have other than more Pro IC and pc.
I want to get the new RCA adaptors when they come out.
I love the sound of the first RCA adaptors. I know others who also have the RCA adaptors on their Pro IC's with great results..
MC-0.5s are always on my list of parts I want more of.
I'd like HFC to come out with a 2 wire, non polarized C7 power cord for my computer.
total dreaming- I'd like Pro Elite line if it comes out.
They have an amp and speakers I'd like to try.
Magnetic speaker binding posts.
the MC-6 Hemisphere
and more

I have found that the 3 way splitters take 5 days to break in and sound good. unless the are zapped with some current first.
All my tests point to a better effect when the MC-0.5s are nearer the system outlet(s).
I often see a correlation between better sound and magnet placement.
All this talk about MC-0.5s makes me want to get 4 more...

I am really enjoying my First MC 1PRO and I'm looking forward to the second one. The one added another level of refinement and realism to my sound. I wrote some about my experience on a newer High fidelity thread called "High Fidelity MC 1 PRO". the One PRO does take some time to break in. I think 2 weeks is good. I already had 16 of the MC 0.5s
in my system. (All at the incoming power outlet as I heard it sound the best there). adding one MC 1 pro to 15 MC 0.5s made a very noticeable improvement. I will get more 1 PROs and report on how more of them sound. Check out the other thread if your interested in the 1 PRO.
Cheers D
68pete
I put the MC 1 Pro at the wall outlet the feeds the system. I haven't tried it in other places yet. I found that in my system, the 05s sounded better at the wall outlet then in other places so I continue to do that for now.
I have another MC Pro arriving today. I'll report after break in.
I went out and bought even more orange 3 way outlet extenders and a 12 awg- 2 ft, 3 way, power cord  that I can use to add both pros to the 16   MC-0.5s at the outlet.
There are 3 duplex outlets, 2 short power cords and 9 of the 3 way
connectors ( in 4 different shapes) at the wall outlet.
68 Pete
I put the MC Pro at the wall outlet to the system where I have all of my MC 0.5s. In my system 5s sounded better at the wall so I put the MC PRO there.
I have gotten a second MC 1 PRO and connected it also at the wall,
with my 16 MC-0.5s, where i have 3 duplex outlets plus 9 three way adaptors and two 12 gauge 2 foot extension cords.
The second PRO sounds great but it takes 5 days to break in new adaptors, so I'm waiting for that and the Pro to break in before my report.
RCA Adaptors
I wanted to say that I have had a set of Magnetic adaptors for quite a while now and I was surprised at the huge improvement they made on a set of PRO series interconnects.
Magnetic stuff worked well on my old Panasonic receiver too!
Thanks cheapbob. I enjoyed your writing style and what you had to say.
I've auditioned many HFC cables, cords and other products since 2012
and have enjoyed the times where my system got better every day for weeks as stuff broke in. gnomish to be sure.
My latest magnetic toys, two MC 1 Pro's were even better than I could have imagined. Lifting veils and revealing magic.
My audio system is gone!!!
My speakers disappeared a while back but now there is no system.

I added a 3rd and 4th MC-1 Pro to my system and let them play constantly for a week or more.
the results of 4 MC PROs is uncanny, miraculous, spell binding.
I can no longer detect component coloration but simply musical performances floating in my room.
On the best recordings, I can hear no flaws, which is a first for me.
The listening team describes the sound as immersive, entrancing, hypnotic, pure, holographic at a previously undiscovered level.
It's hard to describe the sense of REAL.
Dead silent background, Image as solid as a rock. Richer and fuller than ever before. Tone so natural that it redefines my understanding of that term. the bass is extended, more powerful and better defined.
the highs are cleaner clearer, smoother, more detailed, real and effortless.
The mids' are like being there.
The MC Pros appear to make a bigger improvement than many of my more expensive HFC jewels. This could be the one!!!
Joecasey and others considering adding MC Pros.
Go For It!!!

Hey Friends! I've just heard of the MC Pro upgrade to the MC Pro Helix.
I really look forward to hearing them.
I love my four MC-1 PROs and was planning to get more but Hey...
guess I'll get some of the new Helix ones.
Has anyone heard them yet??
Cheers Dave
Hi Pete
I hear that the Pro Helix has been produced and it Wowed during testing. IT is just about to be available. I will get one soon and let you know what all the excitement is about.
Enjoy the music!
Dave
agisthos
I've had the pleasure of hearing All the Magnetic cable versions.
I'd say that the Ultimate blew the E out of the water. Totally!!
and that the UR was even more fantastic. The Pros are another level entirely. Each iteration brings more magic. more realism, more enjoyment.
Dave
I'm happy to say I just got an MC 1 Pro Helix power conditioner.
The plug in device that is the big brother to the MC 1 Pro.
I had 4 of the MC Pro 1s when the Helix came out but read a report that
the "HELIX"  sounds twice as good as the MC PRO one.
So now I'm going to get to compare and report in the coming weeks.
For clarification...
I am talking about the $2699. MC 1 Pro helix power conditioner here.
68 pete is talking about the $50,000. Pro Series Power Conditioner,
a very different animal.
Enjoy the music
Dave
MC Pro 1 Helix +
I had planned to let my Helix break in for a few days before commenting but I am hearing some very interesting improvements after just 6 hours.
Even though I have 15 MC-0.5s, and 3 MC Pro 1s in the system already
the MC Helix has already revealed much more music. Already more intriguing and engulfing. The instruments blossom becoming fuller and more colorful. I can not only hear the reed and the wood of a clarinet, I can hear the shape of the instrument. There is an increase in natural lifelike reproduction and a further reduction of noise impediments creating a more effortless listing experience. symbols shimmer as I hear their movement when struck. The music floats in the air and reflects of the walls of the record venue revealing the deepest and most well defined soundstage I've ever heard.
Truly another level above the MC Pro 1 by a wide margin. In just 6 hours.
I want more of them!!!
FYI suggested "break in" 16 to 24 DAYS. I will file more reports in time.
Cheers D
68pete Hello!  Have you tried any component grounding using the Pro Power Conditioner?
I have heard and read about many types of grounding cables. Some think highly polished silver wire is best. Some prefer super fine strands of copper wire to ground the very high frequencies where a lot of "noise" reside, others like copper silver combo. then there is super damping and super shielding on some ground wires.
Hi Pete
I'm glad you are enjoying the Pro Power so much.
I'm really liking my new MC helix too. I want more...
grounding wire- I believe that the finest gauge copper wire will work well because it will pass high frequency noise well. I believe that highly polished silver wire works well because high frequency noise can pass easily down the surface of this wire.
IF the grounding wires pick up vibration or Rf signals or magnetic flux, these are all noise adders and defeating the purpose.
I have used 3 pieces of 7 strand of 32 gauge copper wrapped in silk and
Braided together and I liked it best so far. A friend says 48 gauge is a tiny bit clearer. really fine copper wire needs to be chemically stripped.
I'd forgo the crimp-on parts because you are trying to offer the absolute least resistance to ground noise. just wire and maybe contact enhancer.
I'm not personally a fan of silver wire or silver coated wire but folks much more into grounding like it. Must be very highly polished thou.
I wonder what Rick thinks? maybe a magnetic flow wire.
There is available some mulit stranded  copper ground wire the equals 8 gauge. I have some to use on earth grounding to rod because it passes Hi fq better. never tried it on any ground blocks.
solid 8 gauge is ok for electrical house grounding but not for audio IMO
More ground wire experiments are way down on my list of experiments I'm thinking of running but I have heard some very interesting things using different wires. mostly, I've found that most wire available is
not very good for audio signal, audio power or audio grounding.
I found one really good wire and nothing else was even in second place.
Happy listening
Dave
MC pro helix +
I want to say that i have been enjoying the break in of my MC Pro Helix +
very much. As others have mentioned, My system just keeps getting better without me doing anything but listening. Great fun to hear the bass get deeper and more dynamic, the soundstage get more pronounced, the micro dynamics become more refined.
Such a huge improvement with a simple plug in device. Lifted my system to a whole other dimension.
MC 0.5 Helix
several friends and I got to try one or more of the new MC 0.5 Helix plug in power filter and all of us liked the improvement very much. Another winner at a lower price.
Enjoy the music
Dave
I missed whatever was going on about removed posts but come here to discuss my experience with my second MC Pro Helix +
The first one was so good about lifting the sound quality to the next level i wondered what the second one would do...
Well, It did it again! Another MC Pro Helix + Improved all aspects of the sound as to bring my sound to another level of reality,
WE are vey happy with the MAJOR IMPROVEMENT IN LISTENING PLEASURE!!
Isn't that what we're all looking for???

PS takes 10 days or more to sound really excellent.
