Forte FP1

Does anyone know the specs and dip settings for the Forte FP1 phono stage?
heyraz
I'm sorry for reviving a somewhat old thread, but I just happened across this and noticed that the information that Heyraz has given is not quite accurate for the Forte FP-1 phonostage.

Inside the phonostage, there is a bank of dip switches numbered 1-8. Numbers 1-4 are for one channel; numbers 5-8 are for the other channel. What ever you do to one channel, the same should be done for the other channel in a MIRRORED FASHION.

Number 1 and number 8 are for setting the capacitance for each channel. When both of these switches are turned to the off position you will have 50pf of capacitance. With both of these switches on, you will then have 200pf of capacitance.

Number 2-4 adjusts the loading for one channel as follows:
2 on = 47
3 on = 100
4 on = 1,000
You may use any or all of these in any combination by just adding the amount. For example, 2 is off, 3 is on, 4 is on for a total of 1,100 ohms.
If 2-4 are all off, this gives you 47,000 ohms.

This is exactly the same for the other channel but in a MIRRORED IMAGE.
5 on = 1,000
6 on = 100
7 on - 47
So, if both 5 and 6 are on, and 7 is off, you will then have 1,100 ohms in this channel. If 5,6,7 are all off, this will give this channel 47,000 ohms.

What ever you do to one channel, you must do to the other channel in the mirrored image.

YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR SYSTEM SHUT OFF WHEN ADJUSTING THE INTERNAL GAIN SETTINGS!!!

To set the gain of the FP-1, you will notice in the center, (inside the phonostage of course)two blue plastic covered pieces that act as jumpers. One for each channel. They only cover two of the three pins for each channel. You will always have the middle pin covered, but moving the blue jumpers to also cover the outside and middle pin will give you the low gain setting of about 40dB. Moving the blue jumpers to cover the middle and inside pins will give you the high gain setting of about 60dB.

I hope that this will be of help to those who are still enjoying this wonderful phonostage. I've had this piece since new and use it as a backup to my reference piece.
I heed help with my FP1. I bought it new years ago. Being from Manila, we use 220 volts. I live in California and I want to use it in my system. Where can I find a power supply or can I use a different source? I tried contacting Treshold but with no luck. They told me they cant help even with a schematic. TIA
Problem solved. I bought a step up transformer for $10 (used). The sound difference between the Rotel phono stage and the FP1...night and day. Not even close. ;) thanks .
night and day difference...ok but which is the night and which is the day? I have a pristine FP1 I've owned for nearly 15 years and am more than a little curious just how good it is...thanks.
