@dayemo Did you have a chance to try Hybrid (Silver-copper) Neotech NEI-3001 MK III wires? If so what is your thought about it? thanks... |
@Michelzay, I have the Neotech Nes-3004 copper speaker cables. And I'm using Neotech upocc copper solid core wires in my handbuilt interconnects. My experience with silver plated wires wasn't to my liking.I've used 24k gold plated copper occ solid core wires also. In each case I noticed the soundstage was somewhat muddled. The silver plated copper was worse than the gold plated copper. The same could be said of the Audio Metallurgy Ga-0 interconnect, which uses a alloy of copper, silver, and gold, single proprietary wire. There was a loss of detail and a less defined soundstage. And the silver plated copper could get harsh when I raised the volume for hard rock. I've come to believe that a combination of solid core silver and upocc copper wires are the best to my ears. About 55% copper to 45% silver seems to be a good balance on my system. And the overall awg should be around 19. Silver tends to sound cold, and the bass can get thin sounding with little impact. So you need enough copper to keep the bass impact and also the lower midrange warmth. The NEI-3001 mkiii might be easier to build than mine, but I doubt they will sound better. I've had many shielded interconnects and they all sounded restricted, boxed in,as opposed to open and airy. I'm a believer of the less insulation around the wire, the more open and flowing the sound principle. |
@dayemot It is very interesting what you did. The only Neotech solid core copper that I am aware of, is NEP-3200 (being a power cord). I was wondering is there any Neotech SOLID CORE copper interconnect cable? Actually I am a fan of Solid core cables, that's why I like to learn more about it. Regarding Hybrid cables, I use Neotech NEP-3003 MK III, as a power cord (!) with a great result. It is very detailed, dynamic as well as fantastic 3D soundstage where one may spot placement of each instrument in a big orchestra. It is much better than Furutech Alpha-3 and Fp-s302N. That's is why I am more interested toward Neotech HYBRID NEi-3001 MKII in order to make some interconnect cables with. The question is to use KLE or Neotech connectors? |
@michelzay, The Neotech DG 201 Rca connectors, you can order them from Soniccraft, are the last Rca connectors I tested and I'm using them on one pair. They cost more, about $60. shipped. They should work well with the Neotech Ic cable you want to use. The KLEI Copper Harmony would probably work also. They were cheaper at Soniccraft at the time, but Soniccraft isn't offering them anymore. VH Audio has them and might be close in price with shipping. The KLEI Copper Harmony were more open, probably because they have a silver coated copper pin. But the Bass was noticeably diminished compared to other plugs I've used. So if you are into vocals, opera, light classical, the KLEI would probably be to your liking. But not for me. I like classic rock, blues rock, some country,celtic,rb/Jazz,and other things. For me,the bass has to be real and impactful. The drums also. The KLEI Copper Harmony plugs would probably have done better if I used less silver awg wires in my design. But when I made an exact pair with the Neotech DG 201 Rca,the result was much more to my liking. Now,I've bought many pairs of the Furutech FP126g rca's on Ebay cheap. They solder up better than the Neotech DG 201,but the od diameter is a bit smaller. They're the best bang for the buck rca connectors I've found, and they use an upocc copper (gold plated) pin. That's rare on RCA jacks. I would have a hard time telling the difference between the Neotech DG201 and the Furutech FP126g plugs. If the od diameter works for you,I recommend you buy them. Here's the Ebay seller that I've bought over 10 pairs from: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-pair-FURUTECH-FP-126-G-FP-126-RCA-Connector-Male-Plug-Gold-plated-Japan-/... |
