ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body

link to the eBay item I bought

I wanted light 1.25g tracking, and stiff Beryllium Cantilever (best bass I ever had was Shure V15Vxmr beryllium microline, SME arm, TD124 TT, tracking was 1.0g),

I got both, and the azimuth adjustable headshell.

It is a Genuine ATN160ML Beryllium Cantilever with MicroLine Stylus

............. HOWEVER ............ I removed it from the headshell, it’s ID is on the top

The gold body is an AT150e, not a at160 body.

(they look identical, let’s say seller probably unaware)

Aligned, played 1 side of an LP I inherited, it sounds fabulous

I’ve been listening, getting ready, my AT33PTG/II boron; Sumiko Talisman Sapphire Tube both track at what I consider a heavy 2.0g

I recently found this, Julius Pepper Adams Baritone Sax player gives his Bass Player George Mraz many solos (as well as the pianist and drummer). Thin flimsy vinyl, holy smokes it’s well recorded, live in a small club.

seller has many cartridges, a few like this, so would you return it, try to get one with a true AT160 Body?

Anybody know what difference it might make?

Want a light tracker: Get these two parts: $480. plus tax

V15Vxmr body, broken stylus $265. usd

New Jico SAS on Boron $215.

I have this pair, member above tracks his at 1.0g, Jico gives range 1.0 to 1.5g. I track at 1.25 as the cantilever is boron, not the original that tracked at 1.0g that was Microwall Beryllium Tube.

or, track a used OEM at 1.0g

Used V15VxMR with OEM Beryllium Stylus $495.

I took a chance on another used cartridge and got lucky again. This is after I got unlucky and broke a beryllium cantilever due to TOTAL stupidity.

AT160ml microline on beryllium, in a magnesium headshell with azimuth adjustment.

won auction $107 usd, add ... total delivered $168. usd, here's all the add-ons involved

seller shipped to bidding agent Aleado who confirms it, gave me 3 shipping options (that took 4 days), small package air took 9 days, just under 2 weeks total.

Steve at VAS checked/cleaned it on Thursday, appears new. He said good things about AT's suspension material lasting forever.

..............................................

IF you are not comfortable risking buying a used stylus, but like AT's dual magnet sound and light 1.25 tracking, you can buy a used cartridge and put a new stylus in it.

I like Boron if buying new, and I see they still sell 3 VMN Boron Stylii that fit these older AT150, AT155, AT160; AT440 bodies

AT-VMN45xML (microlinear/nude/boron cantilever)
AT-VMN50xSH (Shibata/nude/boron cantilever)
AT-VMN60xSL (special line contact/nude/boron cantilever)

I am one of a few individuals who occasionally cross paths to assess thoughts on Ortofon Brand Cartridges that have their designs being trickle down tech' from the Jubilee and Windfeld Models, even though a Windfeld and Jubilee are in the cache of Cart's

Certain models are original with low hours and other are same models undergone a redesign for the mechanical operation.

Sapphire now Boron, Replicant or FG 80 now a FGS, changes to Damper Material or adding a FSE.

In my case a Hybrid of Ortofon and Parts never used by Ortofon as a commercial offering have been brought together. The Cart' has a Damper used for Cart's above the Windfeld Spec' and a Beryllium Cantilever with Ogura Vital Stylus.

The Beryllium Cantilever has on more than one occasion been suggested to be the material that is creating the differences where my Cart' stands out on a Certain Track as having reproduced the End Sound that has been the most attractive.

Other Cart's used all sound like their is a Sibling Relationship and the finesse of the different Cart's is what is usually stand out during the short durations of a comparison.

My Cart' design at times falls into being a Sibling, but at others the Cart' manages itself very different, which the End Sound clearly makes known is a betterment over others in use.

I am not sure if this is a design to be refurbished, as the Cart' Tech lost their opportunity to purchase parts from Ortofon as a result of their being involved in the design of the PW Windfeld, along with Brexit causing a loss of access to the Cart' Tech', the loss of accessing the service makes my concern for Cart' care quite intense.

Hey Ho, I would have relished a retip and tidy up, whilst it lasts I will savour what is on offer.
