Axpona lanyards with Audiogon handle I'd be thrown out immediately.
Full range vs monitors with sub A good sub (or four) allows acoustic tuning of the bass without having to move the mains around to achieve this. Get the main speakers right, mess with the subs until everything blends...done.
This Schitt is totally refreshing in the world of high end audio! Offensive is in the eye of the beholder, and the offended beholder is generally unaware of the real world or prefers to not have their "church lady" reality bubble punctured by uncensored wit...Carlin, Lenny Bruce, nearly every great comic out the...
Schitt turntable anyone? Schiit makes excellent stuff that succeeds simply because it works well...I own a Freya that really has nothing close to its performance level and features at any price really, a Loki...same thing, and a couple of Magni 3s, also astonishingly good...
I feel bad for speaker manufacturers The way to go is to develop a tweak product that provides an inexplicable and mysterious benefit, get core supporters to rave about that product with hyperbole laden descriptions of the massive improvement this new thing provides, charge an arbitr...
***Is It Me Or Have Todays Modern Tubes Gotten REALLY REALLY Good*** Since my power amp and preamp both use 6SN7GTBs, I've been enjoying NOS RCAs, Amperex, Sylvania "chrome domes," and new Tung Sols...and the differences between 'em all. An Amperex sounds great in my amp, the RCAs and Sylvanias in the preamp...this...
Used PreAmp around 1000 Maybe try a new Schiit Freya. I think mine sounds fabulous, and it's 700 bucks for a remote controlled fully balanced multi featured tube (or passive) preamp.
Anyone have experience with the Tung Sol 7581a vs. EL34, KT66, KT88, 6L6 Another update...after being smitten (smote?) by Gold Lion KT77s and much preferring them to anything else in my little SE amp, I've switched to 7581As and now prefer them over the various power tubes I've stuck in this amp...including KT120s, 150...
***Is It Me Or Have Todays Modern Tubes Gotten REALLY REALLY Good*** Often tubes get rolled merely for fun and to satisfy a curiosity regarding tube differences, and that's a large part of the tube thing...
OT: Using electrostatic motors for a watch movement I like the look of that Accutron. I’m a certainly a watch geek and remember when a friend bought the original Accutron...very cool for its day and I was jealous. I got into watches when at 14 I needed to know when to paddle in from the reef breaks...
Subwoofer Confusion REL subs utilizing the "high level" input are listed as 100,000 ohms per sub. I use 2 with a 12wpc tube amp so it's a 50,000 ohm burden on the amp, and the amp doesn't seem to mind as the subs bring 250 watts to the party, and it's always a nice p...
Clean component connections Right...acetone...use acetone everywhere and then treat all the connections with a small blowtorch, followed with a quick dip in hot road tar.
Should an amp have a "personality"? It's true that many can't afford great tube amps...my world class Dennis Had hand made SE HO (it's a HO...it says so right on the front of the thing) was barely used (has its birthday with Had's signature on the bottom plate) when I bought it for ...
Quick Klispch question I did bi-wire but I went back to single wiring as it sounds a little better to my ears, and my Firebottle HO (It's a HO) has plenty of mojo for these speakers so I won't be adding another one any time soon...I like the "amazing sound with 4 tubes"...
Review: Silverline SR17 Supreme speakers Silverline Preludes are fabulous speakers though I recently sold my pair as I'd replaced them with very high efficiency speakers to mate with a small SE amp...still...took a long time to list them as I didn't want to see 'em go. I enjoyed a pair o... |
