Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade?
If my Freya was presenting anything other than a crisp and accurate tonal spectrum (I can and have compared it to my extremely overbuilt Kavent/Vincent dual mono balanced preamp which is still around...as a backup or something) I'd have sent it ba...
Opinions and recommendations on active loudspeakers
Inna...My RELs work beautifully as I imagine the vast majority of other well designed powered sub brands do, and your comments, generally lacking a discernible point, are rarely if ever based on anything happening in the actual world.
Puzzled about reasons why there seems to be no shortage of used planner speakers
It is comforting for me that my horns and I are prepared for the High Efficiency fad coming next year...bring 'em on I say. I do think Maggies sound great, but I have noticed that they're often mistaken for dressing screens much to the surprise of...
Opinions and recommendations on active loudspeakers
The crossovers and every wire in your speakers already "vibrate like hell" as does the amp and everything else in a powered subwoofer or speaker...however, no problemo, and powered speakers like ATCs and others (and every powered PA box hung over ...
anybody using subwoofers and/or isolation bases for their Fore III's?
I'm assuming you mean "Forte" IIIs. I use Vibrapods under my Heresy IIIs and those things really work...the "pods" have felt pads stuck to the underside to make the Heresy IIIs easy to slide around when trying various positions or cleaning the flo...
The sound of speakers is distortion.
Nelson Pass made a gizmo that does exactly that (adds a "little sloppy"  "even ordered" distortion to the amp). He sent amps to people with an undescribed knob and they all liked the "little sloppy" knob turned up, so he gave a pile of the gizmos ...
I wan't the best in this price range
I think the whole "decide for yourself" thing is a bad idea...you should avoid the entire issue and just get a good guitar. I can recommend some of those. Like male vocals?...just sing something (if you're male). Problem solved.
Calling all Schiit Freya owners: question about amplifier pairing and heat problems.
The tubes in my "original series" Freya aren’t especially hotter than they should be (4 preamp tubes should seemingly be hottish, but...meh...), and note that the top vents are around the tubes...there’s plenty of side venting making for good air ...
Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade?
To clarify, I use it because it's a better sounding thing than any preamp I've used in my system (tube rolling is also more fun than otherwise since with a solid state preamp the tubes just roll off onto the floor) including the Kavent and any of ...
Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade?
I went from an Adcom GFP something or other (had balanced outputs, remote, and I can't remember the model) to a balanced Kavent (Vincent) monster that sounds FABULOUS, but tube preamp curiosity got to me to a Schiit Freya...along with Atmasphere s...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
I have one of my subs near a wall and under a window in my listening room, and when I want sound on the deck I put a pair of speakers in the windows with that sub. The deck specific speakers (old KEF Q10s...great sounding things) are powered by a ...
Manufacturers pushing their products and agenda in the forums.
I agree 100% with Elizabeth's comments about the hyperbolic shill crowd, and Frank's comment is a tasteless and irrelevant blurb. When do the faith based magic tweak technical explanations start? They don't, but you're covered by a 30 day money ba...
Adcom GFP-710 to Schiit Freya - upgrade?
I've owned a few Adcom preamps over the years and enjoyed them immensely, but although nobody has perfect Audio Experience Memory (or AEM, a classic term I just made up), my Freya doesn't require remembering what it sounds like because it's in my ...
Axpona lanyards with Audiogon handle
I'd enjoy asking Ted some questions about his pile of nonsensical faith based products, but from what I've seen of his demeanor I doubt he's emotionally stable enough to handle that sort of thing.
This Schitt is totally refreshing in the world of high end audio!
Jab...I was responding to a previous post, and that whooshing sound you hear is likely the sound of things going over your head.
