Best Tubes on Market today?
Every tube I've used from Tung Sol has been fine to very good...Gold Lion KT88s, KT120s, 150s, 6550s...GL KT77s are amazingly good (JJ KT77s just didn't sound right in my power amp) but bettered, in my amp anyway, by the relatively recent Tung Sol...
Audiopile hyperbole, reference, SOTA, ultimate and more...

Flea Watt Amp: What Speakers Are. You Using With Yours? Recommendations
Is "flea watt" really up to 12 watts? In any case, my massive 12wpc or something (depends on which tubes are in there) Dennis Had amp powers a pair of Heresy IIIs with gusto. Aplomb. Easily. No problemo.
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
I had an SR fuse blow for no obvious reason other that it being seemingly rated improperly, that's happened to other SR fuse users (fusers?), and SR fuse promoters have recommended using higher rated fuses to avoid that...a real bad idea, but ther...
JBL 100 Classic or Klipsch Heresy III?
Note that Heresy III owners lives are generally transformed with slight growth spurts and reversal of hair loss...their kids somehow get into better schools, and don't get me started about scratch-off lottery tickets...
Quarantine/Vetting by Admin prior to allowing "Company Is Dead" Threads to go live
If an Audiogon post has as much influence on businesses as implied in this thread, the playing field is leveled by the fact that anyone from a mischaracterized company can post here to dispute any rumors or inaccurate claims. That instantly gives ...
Anyone heard Schiit's Aegir?
Nope...but I'm back to bi-wiring the Heresy IIIs after putting some new plugs on a set of AQ Rockets. Using one Had amp and selling the other one.
Anyone heard Schiit's Aegir?
I love my Dennis Had tube amp (I actually own two of the things) but have been curious about the Pass XA25 having read so much about it...I want one. However, at one fifth the cost, the Aegir might have to get bumped to first place in my curiosity...
Vacuum tubes: Radio tubes, TV tubes, Audio tubes
I've read that tubes won't be destroyed in a nuclear bomb electromagnetic pulse so there's some comfort in that (and supposedly why they were used in jets), and there's nothing like watching original Twilight Zone episodes on a small screen black ...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
"Upgraded fuses" are still simply fuses...they're not supposed to do  anything but fail if needed unlike tubes, isolation feet, and most other explainable items...manufacturers of high end products certainly do include the best tubes and other com...
Forte 1A or Threshold 400A
I owned a Forte "55" that was and, likely for the guy who bought it from me, still is, a GREAT amp...I was told it was the last of the line and didn't use the IGBT transistors...still...nice...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Note that Kaitty doesn't use fuses, clearly hasn't done any meaningful comparisons between brands or "cheap common fuses vs. expensive ones," and simply adds condescending dismissive nonsense as that's his style...he actually sells (or tries to) u...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
I did a fairly extensive test of the efficacy of SR fuses a while back...recorded results to play for reference, tried reversing them, had one blow for no apparent reason, and otherwise tried hard to see if the things made any difference...they do...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Fuses don't and will never have any meaningful effect on a well designed power supply when working to accomplish what fuses are actually designed for (protecting the component from catastrophic failure due to sudden power surges), have zero sonic ...
Warm Class D for horns?
If "valve-like" character is what any audio freak is looking for, a tube amp is out there waiting for you to find it. Is there anything more "tube like" than tubes? The inefficient speaker world obviously benefits from class d technology (as well ...
