Free air resonance
@unreceivedogma , AHH the Duplex. I was thinking Voice of the Theater. Nice trick with the burlap. Yes, I think a rug would be in order.  I beat you by one year. I built my ST 70 and PAS 3X when I was 13. A friends father gave me a pair of AR 2ax'...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
@mojo771 Air or fan drying a record is never a good idea. The water evaporates leaving whatever was in the water on the record. Even distilled water has some residue in it. Vacuum drying is the state of the art at this time. It removes the bulk of...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
@wizzzard , please take your time. I believe you can copy and paste the graphs. I thought I had trouble with 9 fingers and a fused wrist. You might check out Dragon Dictate. I have used the Medical version and it is really quite good now.  As a ...
Free air resonance
@erik_squires I agree entirely up until the last comment. This argument between wide dispersion and limited dispersion has been going on since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Obviously, wide dispersion bounces sound all over the room creating m...
Wharfedale Elysian 4 Incredible build quality and sound, but made in China.
Unfortunately, China is the 800 pound gorilla on this planet. I refuse to subsidize that kind of behavior. There are plenty of great American, Canadian, Australian and European speakers available. GE needs to move it's plant to the West and not wa...
Adding an Sub that doesn't go well below speakers?
@javipi , No, no the way you are planning on adding it to your system. First off, frequency response measurements are taken at one meter. That is a far cry from 4 meters. Most speakers do not put any significant power out below 50 hz. If you were...

@wizzzard 😞
So many YouTube clips to evaluate sound quality. Why???
Like Facebook I totally ignore it. I would not even no it existed until it was mentioned here. I have an acoustic image in my head of what I want to hear and I am only interested in getting my system as close as I can get to that image. This usual...
High end speakers at low volume
@phusis , I agree entirely but baby steps. Let Rocco get used to his new processor first.. We might already be stretching his budget.
Connections?
You would take the analogue outputs from the DAC and plug them into any high level input on the Mac . The CD input will do fine,
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
@cleeds , I was given a large collection of 78 rpm and old LPs. In order to deal with them I had to buy a record cleaning machine and deal with the peculiarities of  of record cleaning. Had this not happened I would still be merrily plugging along...
High end speakers at low volume
@ricco275  Wonderful. You are about to enter a whole new world of possibilities. Lots of fun. If you have any problems feel free to message me.
Free air resonance
@unreceivedogma , Boy are you making like complicated. The free air resonance of a driver is determined mostly by the mass of the construct (cone, suspension, voice coil and former) and the stiffness of the entire suspension. I doubt you will hea...
High end speakers at low volume
@ricco275 , I saw The Absolute Sound Article but can't seem to find the Stereophile one. None of the four or five reviews I read mentioned any harshness. Harshness is generally an amplitude problem which can always be programmed out with a preamp...
Do I need a sub woofer to match my ATC SCM11s
@jeres8860 , Your SCM 11s are lovely little two way monitors with very capable drivers. Adding subwoofers correctly to this type of loudspeaker takes them to an entirely different level of performance even better than most large three way floor st...
