Any good video sites out there?
@cleeds You’re cracking me up -- because I cannot see how you cannot see. Then again, you may just be pulling my leg. Good one, buddy! @facten Hans Beekhuyzen, John Darko, A British Audiophile, Goldensound, Pearl Acoustics, Pints with Ayre, Audi...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
@bpoletti Understood. I also like information.
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
@bpoletti  I spend time listening to music. The system disappears in the room and is replaced by musicians all in their proper position on stage. The original performance reproduced. What do you come to an audio forum for?

@cleeds Yeah, I read those. I'm not seeing how I'm in violation at all. @artemus_5 I hear you. My point was not just that my ox got gored -- though, you're right, it DOES sting more -- but that I raised a topic worthy of debate for this community...

@rsf507 Thanks. I try to be polite but that doesn't mean I have to only compliment things. No pain, no gain, as the weightlifters say. Sometimes the people we think are big and thick skinned are the first ones calling the hall monitor. That said,...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
@mijostyn Thanks. Appreciated. NO! I stopped being neurotic about sound quality long ago! That’s about as concise as a version as the false-dilemma driving this thread can get. False dilemma: Either you love your system's sound (and are just ...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
@sns The more I think about the continuing unhappiness I see in the pursuit of highest fidelity the more I think this has much to do with the extreme material nature of the hobby. I like the way you put that. The further question is, why is o...
Have audio cables really improved in last 20 years?
OP: By "really" improved do you mean improved "a lot" or "actually improved at all" (i.e., above and beyond marketing hype)?
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better?
Here's another way of framing the question: "Do you ENJOY spending time enjoying improving -- or just tinkering with -- your system?" If the answer to that is "yes" then there is no problem that Dan Wright needs to solve. Honestly, for a forum ...
Autoformer/Passive Preamp vs. 6SN7 vs. 12AT7 with Class A, Class D, and Tubes
@brownsfan Thanks for relating that. Because I was comparing the passive to such a good 6SN7 (with excellent tubes) I really thought it could not be beat. But so much matters regarding the other things in the chain! All that said, what I think I'...
List some of the worst-sounding CDs you've heard, lately
Joe Jackson Look Sharp before remastering. Wow. So bad. As in, "Is that a piano?" bad.
Autoformer/Passive Preamp vs. 6SN7 vs. 12AT7 with Class A, Class D, and Tubes
@antigrunge2  All goes to confirm that with Dacs outputting 2V, all you need is a pot Incorrect. If you read the OP, you'll see that this does NOT confirm that, overall. It's a mixed picture. Re-read.
No love for Legacy Audio
I heard the Focus Legacy and Signature SE's for a while powered by very good equipment. They were nice, but they are enormous, heavy, speakers. Then, I heard the Apertura Edena speakers. They not only sounded better in various ways than the Legacy...
Autoformer/Passive Preamp vs. 6SN7 vs. 12AT7 with Class A, Class D, and Tubes
@clio09 As I was typing my reply to include a link to Intact Audio, you posted about the same thing! Thanks for your input.
Autoformer/Passive Preamp vs. 6SN7 vs. 12AT7 with Class A, Class D, and Tubes
@bhvf I'm glad the post is of interest. I'm still learning, and the combinations are complicated! I also tried the MiniGan5 with my Salks and they had a lot of biff. @daledeee1 You are so far advanced from where I am, I'm grateful that you've tak...
