Speaker Pairing for Sugden A21SE
@anton99 I would love to hear Devore stuff. Definitely a level up, at least price-wise. I've not heard those ProAcs but given the markup one pays for foreign gear, especially British, I cannot imagine that model could compete sonically with the Sa...
Speaker Pairing for Sugden A21SE
I enjoyed the Carreras a lot as well as the Carbon 7. Also like the Salk SS6M, which, like the Carreras has a Be tweeter that is well implemented and will likely be clear but not bright with that lovely Sugden.
Did Audiogon get sold to the Chinese or Russian Govt?
@teo_audio Thus, nasty responses to a negative post, say more about the poster of the response, than anything else. When I post, I know there is a person on the other end. I am not a monkey. I reread what I intend to post imagining a person ...
objective vs. subjective rabbit hole
@deludedaudiophile I like your addenda.
How much $$ do bells and whistles add to preamp?
The Quicksilver Line Stage is built like a rock, with clean, simple, point to point wiring. It is not expensive but brings amazing value. I upgraded the caps for a few hundred dollars. It can be found used for about $1k.
Too many choices for R2R DACS--opinions appreciated
I have an MHDT Orchid, upgraded by Grannyring with good capacitors and resistors. It competed quite admirably with the Holo May DAC at 5x the price.
objective vs. subjective rabbit hole
Some interesting elements discussed here:
How do you make a final decision on a DAC
I won't mention brands, because you seem to have good options.  Here's what you might consider: ask yourself, "What music might I be listening to in the future that I don't listen to now?" and then try out the DAC's with those genres. For exampl...
Looking for an integrated amp to replace my Cayin A-50T
I had a good experience with the Atoll amp. Not sure about the sonic signature, but it's very well made. Here's a review which you might learn from:    Here it is for $1700, used:  https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649801092-atoll-in200...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
+ @jjss49 + @sns + @ghdprentice + @nonoise @russ69 If something measures so poorly, wouldn’t you want to correlate the measurements with what you hear? Good posts. Here’s how I see it. There are several components involved in judging ho...
GIK alternatives
@glennkuras Good luck! I'm so excited about some Qrds and any other diffusion products. (I just can't find the time to build my own Skyline.)
This cable game is making my head spin
Various things have changed the sound of my system. Early on, there was a dullness to the system that I thought could be alleviated with cables. Turns out, it was the room. Have you eliminated your room as a factor? If not, then it's probably pre...
hifi stay
These racks claim "anti-gravity."  I went with my own design and a local builder, and it was below $1300, solid maple.
Question about amplifiers
I like your amps a lot. What kind of ML's do you have?
Do you build anything for your high fidelity system? If so, what do you make?
I made panels for absorption using OC 703 and fabric.  Also made some deflection boards -- about 4 ft. x 2 ft. on stands about 1 foot off the ground. Placed near the speakers they direct sound which might bounce off a side wall back around the ro...
