High Performance Audio - The End? In my experience with both lower end and upper end systems, distinction between steel and nylon strings is not necessarily an exacting measure of a system's absolute capacity. Even lower end HiFi systems can distinguish the difference between stee...
Legacy Concert Master? Don't be so sensitive; "the means" applies at any level. Your OP did not clarify whether you were an interested buyer. :)
High Performance Audio - The End? deep_333, you haven't compared the Moab in your home to anything, and you have the Adante working with subs to make it offer even a passable serious floor standing performance. Further, if you did not compare the speakers with the precise same sys...
Legacy Concert Master? Valor is top of the line. See my reviews of Legacy Audio speakers at Dagogo.com What strikes me a bit odd about the one for sale is the paper midrange drivers. These seem different than what Legacy Audio typically uses. It almost seems that someon...
High Performance Audio - The End? deep_333, How many speakers have you compared in your home - particularly ones costing 10x-20x - against the Moab and Adante? BTW, it seems you have not ever heard the Moab, so your opinion on that I consider based on hearsay.
Legacy Concert Master? It may be a newer model, or one of a kind. The footers appear to be the newest ones by Legacy Audio. The drivers, except for the mids, look like Legacy Audio. Best to speak to the speaker company before any consideration.
Member Almarg passed away last night I enjoyed Al's demeanor on the forum. I understand he might be incredulous at some of the conversation, but always comported himself well. A good example for us all. Blessings and comfort to Margaret.
More money toward better speakers or a better DAC? A DAC is a worthwhile upgrade. I am reviewing currently a $5K DAC that reveals the improvements over the years (about 3 years) in DAC performance. The change to performance is as strong as any preamp, amp or set of cables. Imo, if you are very ser...
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg Noromance, thank you. I do not wish to detract from this sincere outpouring of support for Al. I am comforted, and know there are many who would respond in as noromance. It is not necessary for others to attach a comment here. Let's all continue ...
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg Al, I have very much enjoyed our online friendship. I invite you and Margaret to know the Lord Jesus. My sister and I lost our father yesterday, but as Chritians we anticipate resurrection and reunion. If you or Margaret wish to discuss this pri...
What makes a DAC so expensive? listening99, forgive me for offending you. I felt offended several times back when I was a budget audiophile. Nearly any honest criticism of my equipment or methods was cause for disgust. But, looking back, those critics were right. FYI, The terms...
What makes a DAC so expensive? "Synergy" is actually a potential problem when establishing high end systems. It is a good example of my dictum; The greatest impediment to advancing an audiophile system is the audiophile. I encourage people to roll this around in their mind a bi...
What makes a DAC so expensive? Is my discussion a tactic? At least for me, it's not a "tactic". I was a Chintziphile many years ago. I'm simply discussing the ulterior motive that often accompanies the effort to claim that the differences in performance are not that great. The ...
What makes a DAC so expensive? Objectivists are often Chintziphiles. No point in arguing with them. The greatest impediment to advancing an audiophile system is the audiophile.
What Combinations of Components Have You Put Together That Sound Good? jss49, yes, there are those who would recoil from such a setup, presuming that because theoretically the sound would be worse, it wouldn’t be worth attempting. They would be wrong. Typically, as in the system I did set up this evening, going DAC d... |
