Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@roberjerman  High inductance of MM's coils is the culprit. Are you aware of the low inductance MM cartridges? It slows transient speed. And the loose suspension used allows for a form of frequency-modulated (FM) distortion as the stylus is pulled ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@lewm  Chakster, Are you sure about the diameter of .035mm (millimeters)? That is very very very tiny and would be very fragileYes, i'm sure, this is exactly the same cryo copper wire you will find in the coil of your ZYX Universe (and other ZYX...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Personally i’m not against SUT, i have phono stage with built-in Lundahl SUTs, also i have Toroidal Silver SUT as a separate unit, but ZYX Pre-Preamp is something special for some cartridges for sure (not for all cartridges) and that’s the reason ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear Nicola While our chakster''strongly '' believes in resistors made from ''pure copper'' Lewstated that he will need so much wire that those would impossiblefit in his ''beloved'' phono-pre. To put this otherwise ''facts don'tcare what we beli...
The 'tube-transistor' enigma by MC carts?
@lewm you are welcome to argue with ZYX, but first look the my picture of this device and its input resistors which looks like a coil, i hope you know how thin is a coil wire of ZYX MC cartridge? The technical advantages stated in the manual and t...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Micro MAX tonearm is very expensive these days, but not everyone is fascinated about it as much as Raul. Here is what @opus111 posted in Micro Seiki thread not so long ago about this tonearm:  Is this a joke? Having owned 1500, 5000, and 8000 I ...
NOS Grace F9E question
Ceramic is even more resonant and very bad for cantilevers. Other than in cartridges some manufacturers used in headshells and tonearms and all sounds really bad. Raul, You’re comparing Apples to Oranges and i believe you have never ever tried th...
NOS Grace F9E question
@nandric Dear chakster, I own both; JVC-X1, mk1 as well mk2 . Bothhave solid beryllium cantilever + shibata stylus. If titaniumcantilevers are available than as separate styli. There are alsoaluminum kinds available for both X-1,mk 1 and mk 2. Wh...
NOS Grace F9E question
@jollytinker which model ? Normally from 3 mV to 5 mV (depends on the model)
Audiocraft AC3300 / 4400 experiences
Haha, as always. We will see where this topic will go. I wish to get more info about those arms too

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@lewm The "problem" with the ADC XLMs, for me, was their very very high compliance. Unless you have a very light tonearm to go with, the suspension tends to bottom out at any slight provocation, like a minor warp or an underdamped cuing device. I...
NOS Grace F9E question
@lewm oops, i meant Grace Ceramic cantilever in my previous post, not Titanium
NOS Grace F9E question
@lewm my grace titanium stylus replacement is still sealed, never tried.Victor X-1IIe with titanium cantilever and elliptical stylus is superb MM cartridge, only one step behind the X-1II with beryllium/shibataIn my opinion Victor X-1IIe is much b...
The 'tube-transistor' enigma by MC carts?
@nandric  Dear chakster, ''Great device to avoid SUT'' is obviously meantto ''belittle'' your Slavic brother. But if I am well informed you justbought some cheap Italian phono-pre dismissing this way yourtechnical praise about ZYX CPP-1. The othe...
