FR66S vs Ikeda IT-407 vs FR66FX
It is true that used FR64s samples are very old and not perfect. One of the reason i bought absolutely perfect Ikeda IT-345 old version.Composite of materials for resonance control and better bearings, fully compatible with B-60 vta base or N-60 st...
Tonearm mount to the plinth vs arm board vs rotating arm board vs isolated tower
For practical reason this type of Steve Dobbins plinth for Garrard 301 is universal for different tonearms if you're going to use many. Same construction in Stereophile article Aesthetically Artisan Fidelity 301 is the best (imo), but you need man...
New TT for ~$1500
Techics SP12 in the rubber plinth they made for it... I was totally disappointed in the flat, mechanical sound ... Not sure why you mentioned this very old (SP12) entry level cheap model of Technics here ? This is probably a $100 turntable. And wha...
FR66S vs Ikeda IT-407 vs FR66FX
My version of Ikeda IT-345 is earlier version (matte finishing), not later CR version (they are gloss). This is wonderful tonearm! If you like mechanics you can’t chose just one tonearm, this is a problem, i want to have all of them. It’s really im...
New TT for ~$1500
Not sure what a poster meant by you will "lose" on a belt drive turntable at the $1500 price point...if I were you I would go for either the pro-ject x2 or move up to the new classic Evo @ $1599. You will lose because those belt drive are inferior...
FIDELITY RESEARCH STEP-UP TRANSFORMERS
With my FR-7fz and previous FR-7f i've been using this toroidal silver sut, they are superb for all LOMC cartridges, 3 inserts available for different impedance.
Not much talk about Yamaha turntables.
Apparently they did, which still leaves my second question: why didn’t Micro build DD tables of this quality level under their own name? It is an interesting question.Micro Seiki also built Luxman PD-444 Direct Drive

My Reed 3p has fixed headshell, but i must say that latest version comes with special headshells that can be changed easily. Nandric ordered custom made shells for his Reed. With my first version of 3p it’s impossible. With sme type headshells it’...
Tonearm mount to the plinth vs arm board vs rotating arm board vs isolated tower
The best for me is armboard on the rails to change Pivot to Spindle distance quickly for various tonearms when needed. This design invented by Micro Seiki for Luxman PD-444, PD-555, PD-441 series back in the 70’s. If you will look here such metal ...
FR66S vs Ikeda IT-407 vs FR66FX
The 66fx is very expensive and very rare model with banana shaped armwand (only this model), look here for the specs, the cost if very close to the 66s. I wish i could buy one of them for myself. 66fx goes for about $5000 and can be even more expe...
New TT for ~$1500
@stereo5 Haha, it's true. St.Petersburg is my home town. To refresh your memory you have to watch this, because from this point of view the architecture of St.Petersburg is even better, sadly we can't fly like birds.
To guard stylus or not?
If you can lock the armwand then no need for stylus guard (imo)
Are 500 hours too many for a used hi-end cartridge?
that's cool
New TT for ~$1500
Alternative version: Luxman PD-441 (Direct Drive), not with Fidelity-Research tonearm, but with simplest tonearm.
New TT for ~$1500
TEAC TN-300 this is attractive for you ? I'm afraid with a belt drive turntable like this you will never understand what is analog playback, those Music Hall, Pro-Ject and Rega are the same. Buying a turntable like this for $1500 is absolutely c...
