What's the difference between 33 1/3 60 vs 50 Hz?
If you do not own a KAB strobe, you may substitute a neon test lamp used to check for hot electrical circuits. These look almost like a flat plastic ball point pen, but have two electrical leads. Connect the leads permanently to an electrical cord...
What is a "shaded dog?"
It's when your blind date shows up wearing Oakleys, but looks more like Lassie than Cameron Diaz.Beyond that, Krell1 is correct. The RCA shaded dogs are the LP pressings where the RCA dog on the label is not white, but illustrated with grades of s...
Who R U?
Twl, I already enjoyed your postings. Now I understand and have respect for the guy that penned them.Welcome to Audiogon and thanks for sharing your history.
Free turntable speed check strobe
The original M&K Realtime LP's have a strobe disk printed inside the label area. I have checked this with the KAB and they are the same.So for those fortunate enough to own any of those great M&K direct to disk's, they may be measured whil...
Free turntable speed check strobe
Sean, I had the same thoughts, but this is certainly worth checking out for free.I measured my printed strobe disk with a precision steel rule and the spacing and exterior dimensions were right on, which is a good start.I already own the KAB strob...
Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
I like the part about spending the rest of the afternoon listening to great vinyl.
Buying Dealer Demos
Unless they have physical damage that effects their appearance, I would prefer the used speakers. Broken in and money in my pocket.Dealers that play to excessive levels and continually return their demo models to the factory for repair would soon ...
LAST???? Has anybody tried this?
Hififile, I have a suggestion that you might try. After applying the Last solution, REWASH and RE RINSE the LP as if it had never been washed. This is best with a VPI machine in my experience. The positive aspect of LAST remains, but the rewash pre...
Paul Dresher - worth exploring
Is there any truth surrounding the rumor that Paul is working on a musically complex opera titled "The Nanny" in honor of his sister Fran Dresher?
How long do you hold an item?
I ask my brokers advice on this topic, I had utility stocks that I had held for a very long time.He suggested I hold my water and let my gas go.
Free turntable speed check strobe
Thanks Extremephono!I downloaded the PDF and set my photo grade printer to maximum quality and used heavy glossy photo grade paper. After cutting it out with an x acto knife, it would easily pass for store bought.
ATC, the big boys
I visited the link you provided but found most of the site under construction. Is there a place with good images of the various speaker systems?
KT88 circuitry vs. EL34
I sort of agree with Thierry, but would like to add that the truly great KT88 tubes are all but impossible to find. Gold Lion, Genelex KT88's are wonderful, but the new replacements from Russia and China are boring when compared to the original.On...
Video Sheilding - required for Projection HDTV's??
I feel bad that your question has gone unanswered, but I honestly do not know.I would read the owners manual under set up procedures. If there is danger they should address that topic in the text. Another option would be to look up the manufacture...
What is the most decadent, most self indulgent--
I like knickknacks David, especially ones from England.
