Any Modded ART DI/O owners out there?
I have a heavily modified ART Di/o and consider it good. I am not certain it's as good as some posters rave about.I will be doing a test with the Di/o, Sony 9000, Sony SCD1 and another hot player in the next few weeks.
Lowther Voigt Pipes are up and running
Yea, where is my pair Twl?
Dialectric grease any thoughts
Unsound, yes they did, and I still have some. In the case of fiber optics, this was a light conductive substance designed to improve the light transmission of the connection.Idea being similar at first glance, but electrically very different.
Stereo or Home Theater?
This is a great bunch of responses. Everyone seems to respect the fact that these two types of systems are for two different purposes. As Jdlepera says, my HT setup is not mid fi, but certainly not equally competent on all channels. If I had the sp...
r.f.i.
If it turns out to be the long run of interconnect, any chance of running it inside copper conduit as a shield? This is not near as difficult as it sounds, particularly if your home rests on a pier and beam foundation.
Static from Aesthetix phono stage when tt not on
One more thing Bill. Even if the Rockport is turned off, the motor controller stays on all the time ( I think ). Do you have the one built by Rowland? If so, you might use a VOM to measure the output or chassis to ground and be sure there is not a...
Sony SCD 777ES Really that Good???
Boy Nrchy, I wish my 9000 ES sounded that good. My analog still murders it.Either my analog is better than yours or the 777ES is a lot better than the 9000ES
Static from Aesthetix phono stage when tt not on
I have been told that in spite of the reputation and high quality of the Caddock resistors chosen for the Io, some of these have mechanical failure that causes noise and microphonics. They are the large black resistors near each group of tubes. Yo...
Static from Aesthetix phono stage when tt not on
Bill, is the static you are describing the kind that pulls at you when you remove the LP, or static in the sound? How long have you had these components, and / or what have you changed lately?
Sony DVP 9000
While I agree with Trich727, wishing I could tame my 9000 ES a bit, I also agree with all the positive comments about the performance being great.Radknee got it right with posting the comments from Absolute Sound. That description is exactly what ...
speaker cable and interconnect different brands?
You are already on the right path by trying different brands. You do not need to match all same brand or design, just go for what sounds good. If that happens to be MIT, great. If you like Nordost or Purist, Cardas or JPS that is fine too.
Component Upgrade/Mods to share?
Your going about this the right way, seeking advice from those who have done the work and succeeded. Unfortunately, my early days of parts swapping yielded spotty results. The quality of the parts is not always the determining factor for success. ...
2-ch tube + 3 ch solid amp? Is this folly?
Five of the seven speakers in my HT system are tube driven. The exceptions are the twin sub woofers which are self powered.I run three mono blocks and two stereo tube amps to achieve this. The sound is wonderful, only negative being double feature...
Will Microsoft kill DVD-A and SACD?
I can see it now, Bill Gates image on every album cover.......posed, head cocked, listening to an antique record machine. That old shaded dog "Nipper" will be missed.
New Lowther Drivers.
Any of you guys old enough to remember the magic of those old German tube radio's? I realize Twl is talking about WAY better fidelity, but still............there was a simple unfettered magic in the sound.Makes me wonder, anything wrong with wanti...
