@slaw

Just arrived,

Mark Knopfler Studio Albums 1996-2007

Seems like we’ve been waiting for it for so long. Hoping it’s waiting for me when we get back later today.

@waltersalas 👍 and I think Tom is right on too.  Lambchop is a band that I have to remember to remember more often too.

@spiritofradio

That is about the finest description of a band that I've ever read on this site. I do not doubt at all that Willy Vlautin was influenced by both Ford and Carver, which makes me look forward even more to reading his books in a couple of months when my workload lightens. Thanks for that, and glad you are enjoying the Delines! I think I'll go put them on right now.

The Delines song - "The Imperial" reminds me of a female vocalist's version of a Lambchop song.

@tomic601 @geof3 et. al. My Moving Pictures 40th records showed up back at the house while we’ve been away for the weekend at in-laws in Bend.  I have a date with them tonight.

@waltersalas @slaw @tomic601 @bslon et. al. Streamed “Inperial” this morning.  Like Ramond Carver or Richard Ford short stories set to Cowboy Junkies music.  Very cool.  Great to learn about another atmospheric band from my hometown.  Thanks.

@boxer12 I have the 45 RPM MFSL of American Beauty.  I haven't listened for a while to say how it compares to the one I picked up.   I am pretty sure it's a test pressing.  I found one that looks similar for Aja.

Got to sneak in a couple LPs last night,... Rufus, "Rags to Rufus" - Charles Bradley, "Victim of Love" & Faces, "First Step." Satisfying set!

@j_husker

The Moving Pictures 40th is excellent! Listen to the live stuff! Very cool!

Tonight-

Robert Plant: Principle of Moments

Greg, I'm with Jim on this... I think you scored big

Pere Ubu / New picnic time

Still breaking in the mono Grado:

Antonio Carlos Jobim-Wave 1967 CTI Mono

Miles Davis-Milestones 2013 Mofi Mono

The Moving Pictures 40th box set arrived yesterday, but I’ve got the KD-650 all dismantled awaiting the Audiomods arm that is coming this week, so I guess it will have to wait.

Greg - Box of Rain off my 45 rpm MoFi is shockingly awesome…..you scored ! Congrats

@big_greg I'm not sure of that one either Greg. My copy is the run of the mill WB I bought around 81. Have you checked discogs?

Pere Ubu / Modern dance

Grateful Dead - American Beauty. Not sure about the provenance of this one. It's in a plain white sleeve with a MFSL number and stamped "sample not for sale". The vinyl has a plain label stamped with JVC. A promo? Test pressing? It sounds fantastic!

@puffball08 Yes, it did come in 2 separate album cases. Mine is a remaster I believe, from a few years ago.

Earthmonkey / Audiosapien

finishing up Cowboy Junkies

Jim, ’"The Imperial" isn’t what I’d call audiophile SQ but I think they are going for a certain mood/atmosphere. Love it!

my LPS project is a Teddy Pardo on a Netgear switch…. fun

@slaw and @bslon ..wow, I am streaming The Delines….wow, where have I been ? love the pocket and understated horns…tasty..

In arrears: Jessica Williams - Portraits ( improv )

@noromance

As am I Brian. It turns out the seller used it with a Hagerman Trumpet, and said the increase in SQ was very apparent and made it ‘reference quality’ (his words). A great deal for that amount. Have been eyeing them on Upscale for quite a while.

@bkeske looking forward to hear how your forthcoming LPS sounds

Anna Maria Alberghetti – Songs By Anna Maria Alberghetti (Mercury Wing 1960)

Buddy Tate / Humphrey Lyttelton – Kansas City Woman (Black Lion 1975)

Trebor Tichenor – Trebor Tichenor, King Of Folk Ragtime (Dirty Shame 1975)

@bkeske looking forward to hear how your forthcoming LPS sounds.

@spiritofradio Thanks for the REL pointer. I'm still on the fence because the Quads actually have a decent amount of bass.

Jeff Beck – Blow By Blow (Epic 1975)

Jane Morgan - Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (Epic 1967)

Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit – The Nashville Sound

Chris Stapleton – From A Room: Volume 2

John Hiatt – Slow Turning

Hey Geof,

There are some "Strangeways" available at Discogs if you don't mind dealing with the vendors there.

MV & EE / Medicine show

@boxer12 it is a great one. My next favorite is Strangeways… hard to find on vinyl!

Oh man, got the Atlas back in the game… been a good day!

Porcupine Tree: In Absentia

Deftones: White Pony

David Gilmour: Live in Pompeii

Diana Krall: Live in Paris

Rush: Moving Pictures (40th)

Queensryche: Empire

Soundgarden: Super Unknown

The Smiths: Louder Than Bombs

@slaw

Hey Steve! I bet you do know the fellow! He recommended the JT album when he, tomic601, and myself went to Stereo Unlimited in San Diego for the Vandersteen event with Richard Vandersteen. We had a blast!!! :-)

@boxer12  Hi Tim, I happened to pull the gray top border jacket  “Lonesome”.  “Truckers Atlas” is on the blue top border jacket.  Did your version come as 2 records in 2 separate jackets (vs. a gatefold)?  Strange…but great selection of Modest Mouse.

Hey Puffball,

+1 for Modest Mouse “The Lonesome Crowded West”. I seem to pull that one out most often when wanting to listen to Modest Mouse. Love the song "Truckers Atlas"
